In a fake world, I'd trade Jalen, Jock, and a pick. Insert Jimmy as the starter and let Cam be his backup. Then groom Cam to take over as the starter next season. If Jimmy get's hurt, so be it, as Amen, Tari, and Cam could all fill in.

Problem is Jalen is on a rookie contract so you can't get = value. So Jalen isn't really tradable until next season thereby completely negating my trade proposal. As such, I wouldn't trade for Butler right now. Doesn't make sense. I doubt I'd trade for Butler this summer either.

No way I'm trading FVV. That doesn't make the Rockets better this season.

To be honest, if we can get the salaries to match, we can get Butler without giving ANY of our core.
That is if you consider our core to be Amen, Jalen, Sengun, Bari, and Eason.

I feel like matching salary around a deal where they get Reed and Cam would be better than most offers they would get for an aging Butler.

Problem is you'd give up FVV or Brooks to make it happen and while Butler is likely better than those guys even at his age there are personality concerns there or rather chemistry concerns because we know the young guys love FVV and Brooks and Butler is a different beast entirely that's fallen out with many players before. So that is a risk.

Maybe some kind of three team deal if we had to make it happen.

Still, I see no reason to make this trade. I don't think 35 year old Butler makes this a championship team so don't do it.

Cam I feel like is going to get traded as I don't think Ime likes him much but I'd be very cautious of trading Reed. There is a lot there, just give him time.

Moving FVV is definitely a risk. He provides a lot of leadership and intangibles. He's a steady force, a coach on the court. However, he unfortunately has been playing like ass. Butler is a personality to be sure (so is Dillon)... but I think Udoka could handle him. He certainly brings a lot of experience and leadership himself.

I think such a move should be strongly considered. I'm more hesitant to move Cam and Reed at this stage though. There's a lot of talent in those two that is worth exploring a lot more imo. Jalen is the one where we are getting close to having seen enough to know who he is.

I think I'd consider Trae if he were available too.. but the Hawks may be playing a little too well right now. I think once his achilles is right, he'll be back to his normal self. He could make a really great pairing with Sengun and as a backcourt mate with Amen, imo. He's also 10 years younger than Butler.

This might be the worst trade proposal I have ever seen here in 23 plus years on this site.

Here’s a novel idea: don’t trade ANYONE- continue to be patient and enjoy the fact that we finally have a decent team.

If the Rockets want to do a trade, it needs to be in the offseason and it needs to be for someone who is in their 20s, is durable, and would be a good locker room guy in addition to being a superstar player.

I believe that Adams/Jock/Uncle Jeff/Tate/Holiday gets us close enough with picks attached no?

No thank you . I really like this teams chemistry. That’s something that butler will most likely ruin . Let’s face it there is a reason this guy can’t stay in any team for a long period of time. I don’t know . But I don’t want to find out . We may not have the best shooters yet , but we have a team that seems like they truly like each other and go to bat for each other . That is a rarity and hard to come by. And a joy to watch !!!

That’s a terrible trade. Why get rid of the guy that functions as a 2nd coach on the floor and gives us so much in terms of intangibles for a guy that is old, injury-prone, and would disrupt our chemistry? Once again, the Rockets would be best served to do nothing and continue to let this group develop. It was pure joy to watch this team last night - something I haven’t felt with the Rockets in a long time.

Does “reliable” include being in uniform for the games? Because Jimmy B. has missed 15-30 games in 10 of the last 11 seasons. And he’s not getting younger or healthier.

    Hard Pass.
That Mofo Butter has always crapped on the city of Houston and now wants to come here old, injured and washed up.

    Pass. Nothing to even consider

Butler is a better defender and has more size.

I wonder if your pure joy was the result of FVV????

LOL, no re-read my post please. I talked about chemistry which this team has and Van Vleet is a major part of that. An aging, injury-prone Jimmy Butler does not improve this team and severely damages the team chemistry. If you can’t see that or understand that, then I don’t know what to tell you.

    Why though?

You know Butler is 35 right? And is on the last year of his deal? and wants the max? You want to pay 38 yr old Butler 50M?

Butler is always injured and causes lots of drama and toxicity. Whats the point of being better when he just sits on the bench? Dude hasnt had a 70 game season since he was 27 yrs old he is now 35.
