It may come down to Alex not wanting to be here as much as Altuve does.

That's a fair call out on Burnes, but that was in the offseason. Where they were at at the deadline, I feel they should have been much more aggressive.

I also would be on board with any of the many solid trade hypotheticals you've made had with Framber going to the O's.

    I could certainly see this.

If I'm Dana I'm not trading Framber without one of Kjerstad or Mayo. probably both.

    What makes you think this?

It's Dana Brown...great at minor league scouting but, in my opinion, doesn't seem to have a good grasp of major league talent. Yusei was a great find, but I still think what we paid was too high.

It’s fascinating to me that the Astros might be negotiating a major trade with the Yankees while simultaneously bidding against them for a premier free agent.

Its possible that Brown is telling cashman (without saying it overtly) “give me what I want for Tucker and I’ll call Bregman and tell him we’re pulling our offer, don’t give me what I want and I’ll convince Crane to go up over $200M”.

I don't think anybody wants to be here as much as Altuve does.

Maybe the late, great Jose Lima but nobody else.

All I'm saying is signing Alex through ages 36 or 37 would not be the end of the world and, apparently, signing Altuve through his age 39 season was great.

FTR it's the Alex negativity I disagree with. I think Altuve will be Albert Pujols unplayable at the end, but was still the right choice.

I disagree with the Yuseu part of your post, but I respect your opinion.

Time will tell on the rest of your post.

I think Bregman is showing more decline than Altuve was at 29/30 years old. That may be a factor.

Altuve started as a forgettable $15,000 undrafted free agent whose original ceiling was probably as a novelty act and he turned himself into a league MVP, nine-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger, three-time batting champion, ALCS MVP, second all-time in post season home runs, etc. I love Bregman, and I'm grateful for how he's also helped the team win pennants and championships, but Altuve stands alone in production, accolades, and lore.

I wish Springer, Correa, Bregman, and Altuve all retired as Astros, but I understand why Altuve might be the only one that does...

Yeah Yankees fans are saying that guy is a hack. I couldn’t read it because it’s behind a paywall. Evidently the guy has written anti Yankees pieces before.
