Fair enough, it’s REALLY hard to have a good game where you go 5-15 with 5 TOS. Harden could occasionally do it by having 14 assists and stuff, but it’s extremely difficult. If they didn’t call a foul on that play (which they basically never do) and it was a jump ball, would you still say he had a decent or good game? i do think we can all agree F*** the warriors and it was pretty sweet to beat them, in a spot that mattered when the whole league was watching.
You said there was a clear difference thats not an opinion you said it like you were stating a fact then you said you want him traded based on that. To be honest I knew you didnt have stats to back up what you said because what you said is not true. That's why I laughed. Jalen is just inconsistent. He has had great and bad games with and without fred. He even struggles when Fred isn't on the floor sometimes. That's not an opinion its a fact.
What was he advertised to you? What I was advertised was a skinny HS kid with no fundamentals and 1 month of G League training. I know he's not a shooter, I've been saying it for years. Sam Vecenie is the one who made up the idea that he should have been a good shooter - I don't know where else it came from. He just takes way too many and he's only capable of handling 4-5 mostly catch and shoot attempts. For example he's shooting something like 39% on 3.5 catch and shoot attempts right now for the season. He'd be a significantly more efficient shooter if you cut his attempts in half by eliminating most of his pull up 3's, he'd probably be around league average. He's taking roughly twice the average 3PA for the league. Oh and btw, his shot was not falling tonight. He missed all 4 of his 3's and he's a 30% shooter. Even if he's a bad shooter, that means his shot is not falling. That's a weird technicality to be fixated on. If spacing has any value at all - as in you believe there is such a thing - then obviously those who are in the worst spacing will struggle more with efficiency. We have exceptionally bad spacing. Amen and Tari struggled to get the the rim and line on drives tonight too. Another example of this is Jaylen Brown struggling in Ime Udoka's first half of his first season. I really don't care what we were promised Green was. What I care about is us selfishly getting points out of him. To do that, obviously give him better spacing. Don't you think it's wildly obvious Green is not efficient enough in a bad role and the team has terrible spacing. Not only is the spacing terrible, but the team is bad at scoring dude. We have the 3rd worst TS% in the NBA, we're winning games by dominating the possession battle (rebounds, turnovers, etc). Is it really crazy to say the offense is probably not as good as it can be? You really think it's outrageous for someone to argue we might not have great offensive talent but certainly we should be better than 3rd worst efficiency? There are more than 3 teams tanking dude. Think about it.
Talent for what? Court vision and BBIQ are generally things that don't jump over time. And Jalen has not shown either in his 3+ years in the NBA. Even if he learned how to shoot at league average levels and be worth his contract, he'd still be a way below average playmaker.
He is the Rockets' Numero Free Throw Shooto. He found something dependable and that is from the FT stripe.
There is more to basketball then efficiency. Not every turnover is a bad tuenover These are 2 truths i learned from the harden era rockets. There is an insane value differece between dead and live ball turnovers. Attacking, aggressive, dead ball turnvers dont hurt that much. Live ball bad pass ones do. Defense is just as important as offense. This is the best defense ive seen since that PEAK rockets squad. The switching ability is amazing. The communication is very good. The talent is there. We just lack the hard core experience
I admitted to Meh, I might just be on tilt, and I'm not upset that you're calling me out. That said, my eye test has value to me, it may not you. Jerry West's eye test has more value than Jordan's eye test when prospecting talent. No, I'm not comparing myself to West as a talent evaluator, I am saying that the eye test has value, and everything isn't always 100% stats. If I say I'd like to hook up with Alexandria Daddario more than KIm K because she is clearly more attractive, I don't have to provide you with their facial symmetry scores, just let me have my opinion.
Green's talent for getting around his man, which is something FVV can't do. The point is to unlock Green in to March of last year full time. It may never happen. It might be he can't co-exist with Alperen, or FVV. He may just be mentally weak and always inconsistent. I think Green needs more usage.
His game isn't suited for the playoffs it's very obvious to me. He doesn't have good handles so an above average defender can easily stay in front of him or force him to take a bad shot. If we're playing against a good team and his shot isn't falling he's almost guaranteed to score less than 15 points. When his shots don't go in he completely loses focus, which results in bad turnovers and a lack of hustle on defense.
He introduced a floater tonight - that’s a plus his next step since he shoots 87% from stripe is to take more midrange step backs around FT line vs step back 3s … limited his 3s to corner or top of key catch and shoot 3s and watch his efficiently shoot up problem is we don’t run any actions or plays for that - everything is PnR and we only run plays to get him cutting baseline for a Alpi pass 1-2x a game … drives me nuts
We just won a game in a playoff scenario with green making clutch free throws against a good team. Stop hating
