NO...that's not the case from what I gathered from reports in the Chinese websites. Their flight arrived one and half an hour delay at around 07:00am. They had difficulty to track their luggages at the airport. By the time they checked in at Shanghai Portman Ritz Carlton, it was around 09:00am. The Rockets were all very tired by the long haul flight that they have to cancel their morning training session. But these 4 guys, T-Mac, JJ, Lue, and Taylor did not take rest. Shortly an hour after check-in, they departed the hotel, and strolled along the Nanjing West Road for some window-shopping. T-Mac looks for mobile phones, and Tyronn Lue bought a DV camera for US$600 (See Lue displaying his DV camera ??) Yao Ming was not with them, as he and JVG had to host their first press conference at the hotel.
David Stern has arrived the night before around 22:00pm. The Kings arrived Shanghai at 04:30am, a couple hours ahead of the Rockets.
T-mac was not looking for t-mobile. 'cause no shop is open at such an early time, the mobile shop made an exception for them to let them in browsing. no source showing Lue's DV bought in China. They are sitting there waiting for a hotel car to a far market.
Oh SNAP! In your face pryuen! Just kidding. But i do like your bolded "NO". Like.. "NO soup for you!" I guess some people would prefer to be spoken to in a less condescending tone.
I hope you can understand Chinese, and read the following article from tom.com. http://sports.tom.com/1019/1042/20041012-444196.html According to this article, they did their window shopping strolling along Nanjing West Road and bought a DV camera, 256MB RAM, 7 megapixel at US$ 600. Well, I may have not visited Shanghai for some time now. But to imagine if 10:00am in the morning is to be considered too early for shops to be opened, then Shanghai may not be able to compete with Hong Kong as a shopper's paradise. Also, it is just natural that if someone buys a DV camera, he will start playing his new toy !!! But if you insist they sat in front of a store waiting for a hotel car to take them somewhere else, that's fine with me.
I love the look on that old grandma's face. She's like...."Bah, another rat-faced foreigner." And then Lue's like, "Where da b****es at for my Chinese Girls Gone Wild?" And then there's that big billboard of Yao in the backgroud that you guys probably didn't spot yet.
OK OK, break it up ladies. Pryuen, I think its time to go to your room and play with YOUR toy. *Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz* Frankly, I can careless what time Shanghai opens shop, or where Lue got his camera, or where the red light district is, so you can save your eye rollin' for when Boki is furnishing his brick house or something basketball related. *in condescending pryuen like voice*
So how many ex-NBA HOF superstars you can recognize in the following photo with David Stern? I only know Bill Russell and Clyde Drexler were there in the group. Well, David Stern and a group of NBA HOFers took a sightseeing tour along the famous Bund (Shanghai Wai Tan) and the peace Hotel. And it seemed Yao Ming's father Yao Zhiyuan is taller than Clyde Drexler !!
Yao must have sit in the middle in that picture. Someone photoshopped him away to make ways to the front door.
LOL !!! Yao Ming needs to be like Superman, being able to fly in and out of the Houston Rockets press conference and this window shopping tour of his team mates.
Tinypure Seems you're right and I've been wrong !! Here is a more detailed report of their window-shooping tour. http://sports.tom.com/1019/1042/20041012-444327.html They went out of their hotel and strolled along Nanjing West Road. It was not yet 10:00am, and not too many stores were open. They were first rejected by a clothing shop, and then they were specially allowed to go into a specialty mobile phone shop. They then went to a watch/jewelry shop. But their interest were on electronics. So they phoned back to Shanghai Portman Ritz Carlton hotel to arrange a limousine. They continued on their stroll, and then stooped for rest at a shop waiting for the hotel limo. The DV with Lue is a DV Recorder and not a DV camera. So it must be an used one, brought in by Lue. The hotel car, a Mercedes Benz, finally arrived to take them to Xujiahui. Mo Taylor was interested in a Sony P150 digial camera. But they shopped around and compared prices (as instructed by Yao Ming beforehand) before going back to that shop to buy it for US$ 600.
LOL !!! So it's all about $$$$$$$$. T-Mac took the afternoon for the global launch of his Adidas T-Mac4 in Shanghai....the first pair of basketball shoes without shoe lace. He then participated and demonstrated his basketball skills in a 3 versus 3 ball game !!! Here is the photo gallery and some selected pictures from that activity.
