I knew I'd forget something......AMERICAN PIE! Freaking hilarious movie! Definitely in my top 4 of the year.
Lynus- I agree with you. End of Days surprised me as well. It's like no other Arnold movie. This one actually has some substance. Yeah, Cate Blanchett is hot! Someone finally agrees! She comes out in the Talented Mr. Ripley, right? How's that movie? I didn't like the Blair Witch Project at all. I rented the movie, though. How much of a difference does that make? Many of the movies you mention have not even come out in theaters. Some of them come out on video first... ------------------ Francis+Charles+Dream-Pippen= Rockets 2000 NBA Champions
When did Amistad release. I just watched it on DVD, and too me, it was simply an amazing tale. Could actually supplant Excalibur as my all time best made film. I never watched the Matrix at the Movies. Fearing a T2 rehash in special affects with no substance. Watched it on disc, and was very impressed with the story after all. Overall a good flick. Blair Witch is the biggest wast of 4.50 ever. South Park had me in stitches, should I be ashamed of that? That whole satan and sadaam scene tore me up. Not to mention "Kyles mom is a big fat ...." Phantom menace was an excellent movie until Jar-Jar stinks became overly annoying. Bringing its total down slightly. American Pie amused me more than I could of imagined. By the way if you rented it and caught the outtakes, the deleted scene with the pie on the table was the most laughs Ive ever given to a spot in a movie. Autin Powers 2 faded after about half way, again. Arlington Road was too predicatable until the ending, which actually angered me. Generals Daughter has James Wood...nuff said. Deep Blue see was a so-so affair. I believe Thin Red line was out in 99 and loved it. Antz was Ok. A Simple Plan, was too simple. Needed more umph, but not bad. Thats all I can remember this late. Ohh and I really liked The Negotiator. Enemy of the State was pretty cool, and The Siege was a pretty interesting twist on American belief of total freedom belonging to the people no matter what.
Ace... I completely forgot about Elizabeth! It was a great movie. I saw it on DVD so I don't know if it was better at the movies or not. But, you are right. A hell of a movie. ------------------ Live Rocketball. Breathe Rocketball. Die with Rocketball.
1. Matrix - Check out www.hackthematrix.com 2. Analyze This - DeNiro was hilarious. Really. 3. Big Daddy - I had to stop the tape, I had that inaudable laugh that only dogs can hear accompanied by tears coming down my face. 4. Fight Club - Like Carson would say weird wild stuff. 5. Sixth Sense - The ending was like a kick in the teeth. If you have not seen it, do so, if you have folow the rules of fight club don't give it away. 6. American Beauty 7. Any Given Sunday 8. Election 9. American Pie - The unedited version. I'll never look at baked goods the same way again. 10. South Park - "Barbara Streisand!" Worst movie by far of 1999 Universal Soldier: The Return - I stopped the tape. Even Kiana Tom couldn't save this movie. Enough said. ------------------ The truth is out there... on the NET.
You guys amaze me. The top 10 movies? I have barely even seen ten this entire year. Anyway... The Matrix was excellent. The bad thing is I didn't go see it in a theater. I'm still kcikcing myself for that one... I have a few questions for you guys in the States who have seen many of the movies which haven't even come out here: The Talented Mr. Ripley- I was really getting excited about this one, but many people are giving it bad reviews. What do you guys think? The Green Mile- What the heck is it about? Stuart Little- Could someone please explain why this movie is currently number 1 in the US?!? Almu- It's always better at the movies, but I guess you could say that watching it on DVD takes away as much enjoyment as any other movie. It's not like the difference between Blair Witch on TV and in the theater. For some reason I always forget about movies like Enemy of the State or The Siege. I'm always happy when leaving the theater, but I guess they just don't leave a lasting impression. ------------------ Francis+Charles+Dream-Pippen= Rockets 2000 NBA Champions
1. The Matrix - I like any movies with biblical allegories, the special effects were awesome 2. The Sixth Sense - I completely agree with everyone so far 3. Elizabeth - the camera angles were nice complements to the story line Toy Story 2 - good Disney fun 4. Shakespeare in Love - go figure 5. Election - I busted my spleen laughing on this one 6. Go - that guy with the English accent cracked me up 7. American Pie 8. American Beauty - was kinda so-so until the monologue at the end 9. She's All That 10. The Green Mile - had a good story line, but it's a really slow movie.. could be a lot better
