I'd rather throw in J.Abreu's salary dump :)

Of course then he'd probably come out of retirement and hit 40 HRs again

Jim Crane not appearing in Suite in Park, not appearing, answering questions in Winter Meetings.

Maybe he will sell the Team.

Bregman is gone, and it's ok. Any deal he signs is going to be awful.

Agreed. Crane making this move because he knows Bregs is gone.

Alex Bregman Bone Chip Removal Surgery means he will get Tommy John Surgery in the Future. One Season and a Half Seasons will be missed. This contract is risky and expensive.

I look at it as it being 2010 again, we'll see.

I'm starting to get thirsty for that Cubs deal, especially if it includes Shaw.

I trust Crane, he's been right about Springer/Correa etc...

I agree that any deal Alex signs will be bad towards the end. And it won't have much if any surplus value at the beginning.

IMO, they are still better off doing it than not.

This is why they needed to sign him to a 10 yr /$250M extension prior 2019, instead of a 5 yr/$100M one.

Same exact deal except an addition 5 yrs at $30M each.

AAV would have been $25M instead of $20M.
Under contract- age 35 instead of age 30.

Alex has 18.7 bWAR (2020 expounded for 162g) those 5 years. that's $150M in value and he would only need to average 2.5 WAR the rest of way for it to break even.

Then we aren't having this conversation now.

Dana can redeem himself by getting a great return for Tucker. I think giving Dana the benefit doubt because of his track record at elvaluting young talent.

Then Altuve would've wanted more money and Yordan on their extensions. I'm okay with Bregman walking now with that in mind.

I'm ready for this to be over so I can stop refreshing google and this forum. I wish free agency was just a 24-hour period and we got to see live "war room" footage of the front offices like they do with the drafts.

Would be very interesting if Bregs couldn’t pass a physical. Bone spurs. Soft tissue. Gets Correa’d

Nah, they've got Altuve/Alvarez/Pena/Chas and a bunch of top notch pitching. In 2010 they only had one young player to trade (Pence) and an old Oswalt/Berkman etc... That's why it was amazing the job Luhnow did. Dana just has to get the Tucker and possibly if he deals Framber deals right and the Stros wont miss a beat. Can Dana be the new Luhnow? The juries still out on that.

I remember a long time ago Johan Santana got his bone chips removed surgery next thing you know Tommy John Surgery.

It has been happening for years for Pitchers and Position Players in the same sequence Bone chips surgery, Tommy John Surgery.

I dont know much about Dominguez, does he have the ability to be a future star level player? I always worry about trading for Yankees prospects because it's always a crap shoot if they reach their potential.
