Tucker is really good and I won’t be sad at all if he’s traded tomorrow. Just get back some good value. Was always hard for me to care about a guy who never seemed to care. Flame on, stat geeks!
I used to believe that too but this stuff may be more difficult than you imagine. The Astros Farm has not produced a decent first baseman in more than a generation. Bregman is the most recent one that I can recall. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Not only are we going to do nothing, we are going to let our best player go and probably our best pitcher. So yes, we are going to do less than nothing.
The only way they would trade Framber is if they signed someone like Fried. If this doesn't happen I'd be VERY surprised if they trade him or Tucker.
If I had a crystal ball and knew we’d win the World Series in 2025 with Tucker then I’d hang on to him 100%. However of course that’s not how life works. If there’s a deal out there that’s too good to pass up then you gotta pull the trigger. Sucks. Sucks even more seeing all the money they gave Abreu, Montero and Hader.
Bregman was never considered a plus defender at SS. He is much more quick than fast, and doesn't have a good arm. Correa was simply a monster - bullt like a young Cal Ripken or Alex Rodriguez, who both ended up outgrowing the ability to get to balls in the hole or up the middle. I can totally understand how the front office expected Correa to move and Alex stay at SS, but they ended up in the best, most effective positions for themselves and the team(s) If the team does not resign Bregman, I would be stoked if they brought Correa back. Looking at the FA contracts being handed out, his deal doesn't look too bad, the guy can flat out play, and his fire has been missed.
If they don’t resign Bregman than you might as well trade Tucker and Framber and reset for 2026. Get some young top prospects and let all the kids play this year. Next year the payroll should be ready to build around whoever emerges from the open competition.
Is there any way to trade Tucker and get equal or close to equal ready-to-play talent like the Roberto Alomar and Joe Carter for Fred McGriff and Tony Fernandez trade from yesteryear?
