I know that, but Stone should offer Jalen, Cam, and Bari plus two 1st round picks for Tyrese plus fillers.
I actually see Johnson more as a 3 who can slide up or down one position. I know he's not our future starting SG but I would love for him to compete for Jalen's minutes too. When Jalen's off sometimes we still need one more floor spacer, but it's so interchangeable anyway with Amen/Tari. They can fit anywhere around Johnson really. Ideally I'm just swapping my starting SF (Brooks) for a backup SG/SF/PG (Johnson). Brooks has to go no matter what I think. We're just lucky that he's shooting so well, but in general since the summer I've been saying it's obvious he has to go. The trade you suggested would be great but I don't think they're giving up on the roster before the deadline. Maybe in the summer?
Maxey would be incredible. The price would be insane though, likely something like amen, cam, 4-5 firsts
I understand Fox has other great things about his game. Clearly he would be an upgrade to what we have. But we’ve needed to add shooting for years. We can’t seem to accomplish that. I’m not sure why someone would think it’s easy for us to add shooting. Spending big capital or assets for another non-shooter on a team of non-shooters doesn’t seem wise to me. That’s all I’m saying.
I got you and respect that stance. I just wouldn’t be so quick to pass on a guy like him just because of 3pt shooting. Who would you prefer they go after that is a shooter?
I'm having this same argument in another thread. Fox is not enough of an upgrade to waste a lot of assets on. If it was Jalen for Fox straight up sure, but that is not what is being floated. Fox is a career 33% 3 pt shooter at 37m per year. If we just want a SG that can get to the rim and finish just switch Amen to start. We need shooters, whether Reed or Cam can be that is the question. Make a minor trade for a Brogdon like guard and wait until the off-season to see what shakes out.
Just asking - if Fox were to force Sac's hand (i.e. I ain't re-signing here no matter what so trade me to Htown), do you think a package of FVV + Cam + 2 FRPs for Fox + Lyles would get it done? Honestly think the Kangz could do worse than that....
I think he’s talking about Maxey. You’re not getting him for nothing, not that they would consider trading him.
Maxey is not really doing great this season, he just signed a super max that may have been an overpay. He is shooting 29% from 3 on the season. A true star should be able to will his team to some more wins in a weak Eastern Conference, they are the 4th worst team in the conference.
I've made the same argument several times. Not only is Fox not an upgrade as a shooter, he's more a point guard and a smaller guy at that. Fox and FVV is an awful small and expensive back court that is going to struggle to defend most 2's. A trade for Fox just isn't the deal for me. I'm looking for a 2 that can play up a position rather than down one, hits 3's at a high rate and defends. Can I get the 25 year old version of PG13 ....
Yes considering Fox is on an expiring deal, they will take what they can as long as they get those picks back.
Booker is the obvious play. We have to wait till the summer, once it’s clear the Suns have no future. If KD misses another 20 games, they may not make the playoffs, and decide to rebuild. I’d offer them JG, Cam, Reed and their picks back. A line-up of Amen, Booker, Tari, Bari, Sengun with FVV, DB off the bench would contend for many years.
If Suns dont make the playoffs, might be better for us to just get the pick the 2025 draft is stacked AF.
