And once again, multiple cfans.net posters make a mountain out of a molehill, for it to turn out to be nothing.

I'm so, so glad that Jackson misquoted this. Litmus test to identify all the casuals. Everyone knows how much more physical the Euroleague is compared to the NBA. Made a whole bunch of you look like fools :)

There were some that were soft like Bargnani but also the Argentine players like Scola and Ginobili stood for toughness in Europe.

Um no. There’s a video in the first post that we can all listen to ourselves. He definitely says “my biggest thing with him is, I say to him, get the European out of your game and play through stuff. Stop crying.”

Get the European out of your posts. Stop crying.

LOL I watched it live and he definitely said get the European out of your game. But I'm European, and I don't mind. Doesn't matter whether it's true or not. Just a casual comment. The point stands. Stop whining and play through it. Ime is right.

I listened to that live as well and I don't remember hearing a "Don't". I got a chuckle out of it but didn't give it much weight. I'd wager he's said worse to Alpi during practice :)

Like it or not, the European style of play has a stigma of a less physical style and player friendly calls. I think that's been changing for a long time but old opinions die hard.

This was a peak display of Black cis pan-African identity, oozing heteronormative codes by Ime Udoka. I'm a gay man and we are allowed to play basketball and cry when things aren't going our way.

At first I took it as "Dont get the European out of your game." Meaning... he thinks NBA players whine too much after non calls, etc.

Listened to it again, and paid closer attention and yeah it is the other way around. Meaning he actually thinks the Euro game is a little softer.... which I kind of disagree with. I think NBA players are some of the biggest whiny cry babies in sports.

The Mayans preceded the Aztecs in this.

Can't speak for the Olmecs. The Zapotecs and other civilizations had the ball game, as well.

I'm still unsure how they played the game in Chichen Itza's massive ballcourt with its vertical walls allowing for no angled bounce. Maybe the game was a little different there,

I think don't think the cry part was intended to be linked to European game. It was one thought about sengun playing for fouls, but I took it as play to score first (like in Euro League), and also don't whine after not getting a call (i.e., I think the cry part was Ime worried about Sengun not getting back on defense). On cry babies, I think there are a lot of them all over the place. I blame soccer where getting a penalty called is huge, but baseball has a long histroy of players complaining to the umps. Football seems to be more about WRs complaining about PI calls and defensive linemen complaining about holding than it did 30 years ago. Mostly, I think players are trained more than ever to push the limits of what is and isn't a penalty as analactics gets more involved.

The only reason Aztecs discovered it was from the Ancient Aliens. Casual human hubris all over this thread.

I agree but the current extent of flopping in the game can be traced almost entirely back to one Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili who turned head flops, phantom falls and arm flails into a championship art.

Anyone who was watching the game in the 2000s watched the game corrupt before our eyes. Later guys like Kirilenko and Vujacic kept that torch lit until the Hardens and Trae Youngs picked it up.

I think you are right that his main issue was complaining to the refs instead of getting back on defense. That is one thing that always bothers me. Valid or not, I think two perceptions that follow European players is that they flop and complain excessively.
