If the Rockets managed to ruin the shot of the most flawless shooting prospects in a decade it's a level of incompetence that will need to be studied for decades.
Serious question: What's the best set of stats to test the (logical) theory that players' shooting percentage declines in proportion to the amount of work they're required to do on defense?
I remember a few people saying how we really outfoxed the Spurs by stealing Sheppard - not sure how that actually works with the Spurs drafting after us, ...but looks like the Spurs are Les Renards for getting Castle who looks like an actual NBA player rather than Sheppard, a shooting specialist who can't regularly get a shot off
Aaron Holiday is 5'2, makes his shots AND was the 23rd pick. Him and Reed have the same size so it shouldn't be an excuse. It pains me to say this as a white passing individual but fair skinned people probably shouldn't be allowed to get in NBA draft. They don't have that hooper gene. They are taking Africans job and wet their pants. We need a black Trump.
He isn't showing anything right now. He isn't creating. He isn't rebounding. He isn't making shots. His defense is fundamentally sound but he plays undersized. He had a really nice opportunity to show something with FVV out and did nothing this game.
If green or Smith ever had a game where they put up Zero pts, negative +/- and no contribution the btching would b nonstop. Reed expectations are low, since he's not getting meaningful mins, but he hasn't really shown anything to warrant more. What's the point of shot of the most flawless prospect if he can't or won't take them? Games where fvv is out, Reed should have taken it as an opportunity to showcase his skillset.
He clearly wasnt that good just got lucky early then stopped shooting to maintain his percentage. If that 50% was legit he'd have more than 12 ppg. He already flopped in March Madness that shows you he cant get his shot off cleanly if guarded even at the college level.
Cam must of done something during practice or behind the scenes. Because Cam has produced more when on the court. He has had games where he was the main game changer that turned a big deficit back to a close game. I just can't see Sheppard doing that. And Cam at least has size and strength on defense where he isn't undersides on every defensive match up.
He needs to be in a the G league getting reps and gaining confidence. Cam Whitmore should not be down there
Right now every weakness I thought Reed had during the draft process is coming true. I thought I was just pessimistic back then because it felt like every time I made a post that wasn't 100% Sheppard future star was getting angry responses. I was really, really hoping that I was actually a hater, and that he truly is that special player. But honestly right now he does look like a guy who wasn't highly touted coming out of high school and there was a reason he only took 4 3s a game at Kentucky. At this point, I am really surprised the Rockets still isn't playing Holiday over him and send him down to the G-League. You can always recall him in case of injuries. Cause he really needs the practice.
Reed had about as empty of a box score tonight as you're going to see. I still think he's going to be fine eventually, but right now he's not living up to what anyone probably hoped for from a pick that high. On the bright side, he doesn't really hurt you while he is out there, but he's not bringing much to get excited about either. Holiday deserves more minutes.
It would literally be best for everyone involved if Reed was jacking shots in the G-League while Holiday took his minutes.
What in the hell is this This is the #1 overall analytics pick? From now on we need to draft from a Charles Barkley state of mind.
so it's coaching's fault that Reed has shown absolutely nothing as a 3rd overall pick 24 games in. Got it. at least Jalen scored 30 points in his 3rd ever NBA game.
