He can't finish around the basket because he's not strong. He misses layups with even the slightest bump to his chest or arm. Since he has 1 pace he can't slow down and again misses layups. It's not just his average bbiq.
Jalen might get a bit better but he is who he is. He'll have the occasional game where he pops off expect him to put in medicore to poor games 70% of the time.
He definitely is who he is but to be honest, for our own selfish purposes if we want to get points out of him now that we've committed a lot of money to him, we should do it the way the rest of the NBA does for such players. You make it easier for them by spacing the floor. Just like we did for Harden, just like they do for Jimmy Butler and they used to do for Tyrese Maxey and Ja Morant. I know he's not as good as those guys. He hasn't earned the right to ask for that. But just selfishly. For the team. For us sitting on a #2 defense and a #17 offense. That's what would give us points out of him. Realistically though, I think they should bench him right now. Tari or Amen start at the 3 and Brooks slides over to the 2. I think that has to happen. Jalen is just not getting it, he should stop shooting so much in general. I'd give him very clear instructions: you can rejoin the starting lineup when you've averaged a 60 TS% off the bench for a 20-game stretch. The team really can use 15-18 efficient points, above average defense and 4-5 assists from him. It shouldn't be hard for him to play good defense and average those numbers even if the offense is messy. He needs a wake up call right now and we as a team need to change the dynamics. It's also not insignificant that we literally have some of the worst spacing in the league. I think Sengun, Green and Amen would be getting to the basket a lot better if they had better shooters around them than FVV (32%), Tari (31%), Brooks (career-high 38% now cooling down), Adams (N/A), Sheppard (32%) and Jabari (35%). Yes our playmakers should be better shooters, but surely as a priority the role players you put around them should be better than this at shooting. That's how you first create spacing for your playmakers. No one respects our role-playing guys at the 3PT line so it doesn't really generate any spacing. Maybe Sengun, Amen and Green collectively can do more for us in the paint if the shooting around them was better? That's something you can achieve right now with a trade. You can't magically make Green/Sengun/Amen into shooters. The guys Ime barely plays? Landale (50%), Holiday (46%), Jeff Green (37%), McVeigh (2 of 8 so far but a known shooter). These guys deserves ome more shots and minutes. There is definitely room for Amen, Green to shoulder some 2PTers as well if we can generate slightly better spacing. Spacing has exponential effects. We've really been playing uphill this season with needing a crazy amount of rebounds/effort to generate barely enough offense. I think to be honest we have not seen our playmakers at their offensive best yet. They would all look better with a couple of tactical fring rotation moves. We're sitting at 2nd/3rd in the West right now after the benefit of a kind of easy schedule. We could solidify our hold on a home court playoff spot if we significantly improve the shooting in our rotation without making much of a difference to the defense. That's worth a pick and some a trade assets rights right now. Try to capture that seed with an early move. I have faith we'll get better at this internally too. It's out of character that so many players are shooting below their norm, I don't think that will last.
LOL more 'xcuses... replace Jalen with Harden, Buckets, Maxey, or Ja and the rockets are 100% better instantly put Jalen on the Clippers, Heat, Grizz, in place of Harden, Buckets, JA and they're all lottery teams
Even his name goes with March. March is when the first flowers blossom and when you see the first green grass.
He’s still out there making rookie and year 2 mistakes on offense. Green driving to the basket with no lane. Alpi has his man sealed for a much easier shot on the block. It’s an easy pass but Green is out control, runs out of bounds and throws an inexcusable pass that gets stolen and taken for an easy 2 for GS.
And ownership genuinely thought it was a good idea to give him a $100,000,000 contract. That will never not be funny.
Kuminga who was on the same G league ignite team looks like the real special athlete. his quickness at his size and length makes him really hard to stop offensively. Jalen doesn't jump out on the court as a special elite athlete, he's just undersized somehow.
