This is a good video about how the Cavs implemented some European concepts to their offense and went from the #18 to the #1 offense. I really like the baseline back-cuts. I think this type of off ball movement would fit our personnel perfectly.
What? No I've been told there's absolutely no way to improve the shot quality for this team. A coach can't improve that kind of thing, it's just whatever the defense gives you, that's what you got and you have to take those shots and make/miss them, that's how the NBA works of course. It's not Udoka's choices there's nothing he could possibly do to affect our overall shot quality, it's just the players are missing shots that average shooters make that's all.
When we create a wide-open three-pointer with 6+ feet of space... Dillon Brooks: 41% Fred Van Vleet: 38% Reed Sheppard: 33% Jalen Green: 33% Tari Eason: 33% Alperen Sengun: 31% Jabari Smith: 28% Amen Thompson: 28% Compare with GSW... Hield: 59% Moody: 56% Curry: 51% Waters: 50% Wiggins: 46% Melton: 40% Green: 39% Kuminga: 33% Podz: 22%
It has to be a curse. Even career sharpshooters like Ryan Anderson and Lou Williams started shooting horribly once they joined the team, not to mention recent draftees Jalen Green, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith and Reed Sheppard.
We've all seen Jokic call the play vs Timberwolves. All the teams run the same boring plays out of efficiency. It's a copy cat league, soon all the teams will be doing it. For the sake of ratings all teams need to change. It's getting so that a 3 year old knows the play before it's run.
That's kind of the point. Instead of having low percentage shooters stand in the corner have them make cuts to the basket. Also, how many times does anyone have 6+ feet of space. That seems like a small number of shots per game.
CLE shooting 40% from 3 (on 38 attempts/gm) can make any system look good … then mix two rim-runners on the court at the same time … Rockets have been ramping up their Princeton actions, while also added more off-ball action to their 5-Out stay alert, Rockets fans
I don't know if there is any secret that Euro ball teaches us - JB Bickerstaff is just not a great coach. I think we already knew that. Pretty much ANY motion while others are playing the pick and roll game at the point of attack is beneficial. You don't have to leave the shores to see that in practice in most good offenses.
I’m all for them cutting to the basket but they’re gonna find the defenders are hanging out there, because we aren’t shooting well enough to keep them honest. At some point someone is going to have to present as a real threat to knock down on open shot consistently to create space…and until that happens it’s never going to be an elite offense.
I think the NBA Cup floor designs would help them shoot better. Seriously, the Rockets did change their offense with Sengun operating from the high post. But they still don't shoot well. Sengun shoots like crap except in the 4th quarter. Jalen doesn't know when to drive, when to pass, and when to shoot step back. Everybody else just don't hit frequently enough. I am still mystified why good shooters forget how to shoot in Houston. Maybe there's something about the team logo that exudes subliminal vibe that confuses their shooting memories.
