It would be so meaningful and justified if refs get some kind of consequence for missed calls like that. Absolute rubbish.
Glad to see Jalen have such good games against Philly and Sac Town. Thats 2 out of 3, very encouraging. I am rooting for December 24 Green to be like March 24 Jalen.
Y’all need to stop saying this $36 million per when he isn’t even making that this year. He’s still making $12 million a year.
Jalen seeing an eye specialist. Tari in concussion protocol. FVV bruised knee. Clean up your ****ing game Silver you overgrown lizard.
You know i remember Udoka say "stop arguing calls and play through it" a lot last year in regards to our young team. He emphasized to stop playing for the foul. Jalen has really done that a lot. He doesnt really argue anymore at all, which i think overall is a good thing. But he gets a bad whistle even more so now. The eye poke should have been argued by him heavily. But he just shouldered it and moved on. I respect him for it and hes doing what coach wants but i think he would benefit from learning to flop and/oe sell contact he often gets.
Idk how much that stuff really helps. Sengun flops and flails every time he touches the ball pretty much and he's not getting a crazy amount of calls.
The way to defend Sengun is to either have a really tall guys with long arms that can recover even if Sengun shakes him or have short guys just push him in the back. Yes, Sengun flails a lot. Sometimes there is nothing there, but a lot of time it is because he's being pushed. Since last trade deadline, refs have allowed a more physical game. I don't think the intent of allowing a more physical game was to allow guys to push while a big man is trying to get a layup or dunk. I thought the intent was to stop offensive players from driving into defensive players, raising up to shot a shot, and then get free throws. Among the top 42 guys in paint touches, Sengun is 5th lowest in FTA/FGA. Considering how Sengun plays, that is crazy low. I suspect it is low because refs are allowing more contact on the body as long as the arms aren't hit.
Sure, he’s also the 2nd worst finisher out of the 40 centers. I was just saying that flopping/flailing isn’t necessarily gonna get you more calls, and sengun is a perfect example.
Big men have complained about not getting the same types of whistles as guards and forwards forever. The rules favor those types of players for better or worse. It’s yet another reason why you have to be otherworldly(think Jokic) to overcome the inertia of the rules that benefit wing scorers only. In short - Sengun just has to get better at finishing through contact.
Its one of the reasons why I back away from all the "Sengun as our franchise player" talk because your big man has to be an Ox in a basketball jersey like Jokic to be able to overcome the rules that protect wild ANT drives over Jokic post masterclass. It's why even Denver has to rely on increasing Jamal Murray's usage to finish close games.
It wasn't just a missed call. The foul on Jalen to the face, should have been reviewed. They should be suspended for not reviewing it. The NBA is by far the most corrupt professional sports league in the world. I hate federal government oversight, but I do think the FTC should get involved since gambling has become such a big part of the sport. MLB should also be investigated as a monopoly. The Dodgers and Yankees are ruining the sport.
Jokic does everything for them at the end of games though, but he’s also unique. Sengun has a loooong way to go to get to poor man’s jokic status.
Overall we really need Jalen to be much more selective with his shots when playing with the starting lineup. We need to stagger his minutes with Sengun so that he's playing with a second unit (featuring a stretch 5). Jalen and 3-4 decent shooters has given us good results against easy lineups in the past. We're already seeing Udoka playing Jabari and Brooks at the 5 a little bit, hope to see that become a regular thing for us. Frankly with the limited calibre of scorers we have (no one can score both inside and outside), we really need as much 4-out basketball as possible. Which means Sengun and Amen should never share the floor together and Green should spend more time with Amen as they seem to pair better in PnR. If it's true Sengun put a lot of work into his 3pt shot last summer, I want to see him keep taking them more confidently. Landale has made like 3 of 6, maybe he's improved as a shooter. Just need to squeeze ever minute of shooting we can into the rotation and stagger our non-shooters as much as possible. That means a little more spacing, which makes it that much easier for Eason, Amen, Green to attack the basket. That's the only way we can improve the offense without making a trade. It's the least we can do and I still think we should make a trade for some bench shooters who will allow us to go 5-out at times. It's really important, the team is showing all the signs of imminent exhaustion with our playing style. A lot of whacky FG%, 4 of out of 5 starters shooting worse 3PT% than last season, having to fight for a historic amount of rebounds to win at this level against a relatively easy schedule thus far. I mean, think about it logically. We're probably exerting an insane amount of energy to maintain this defense and rebounding. We have the athletes to endure it but we can't play playoff intensity 82 games and - unlike everyone else - have no gear to shift into when we get there. The schedule is about to get tougher. I'm glad Ime is trying some new things.
Not flopping does not get correct calls either. He's flopping to help the refs make correct call mostly. I'm guessing the 2nd worst finisher is a by product of Sengun not getting calls as well as other players and no an idication that Sengun couldn't finish if he was treated like other players. Typically, the more a player excels, the easier it is for refs to see when a player is fouled.
