Let's give Al-Shaair the benefit of doubt and say he was trying to make a clean, hard tackle..

Except, we can't make this argument, because he decided to lead with his elbow to the player's head. Targeting.

You understand that if you aim for center mass, and a person goes into a slide super late, the spot that was center mass is now a headshot, right?

I mean, that should be obvious, but here we are.

The alternative to leading with his forearm would be having Azeez's arms straight out in front of him, thus hitting Lawrence in his chin with the crown of his helmet. Would that in your opinion have made this a clean, hard tackle? Could Azeez have changed his trajectory, rolled, or jumped over Lawrence. Probably, but both were at fault.

If this incident doesn't make the locker room closer and galvanize the them then the team was cooked the entire time. We were slowly fading week by week if DeMeco is a great coach he would use this to motivate the team.

They did have a guy last season. Denzel Perryman. He plays the exact same position as Al-Shaair and was suspended 3 games for the exact same thing. Maybe the Texans, and Demeco, have a type? They also rushed out to sign Kareem
Jackson after he was released by then Broncos after serving a second suspension for the same thing as Al-Shaair. I think the league believes this is a systemic issue with the culture of the Texans and went after Al-Shaair harder as a result. It was a warning to the Texans organization more than a punishment for Al-Shaair.

I assured you If he had used his head as opposed to forearm to lead it’d be worse but yeah

The NFL singled out and called into question the character of one of their captains on defense. If they don't get Al Shairs back in order to win the game for him, then there must be zero cohesion and togetherness in the locker room.

That's certainly a possibility but I believe that they will judge this incident based on its own particular set of circumstances. It certainly doesn't help that Lawrence went on IR today. Because of that I would not be surprised if the 3 game suspension stands.
