Well right, that's why I get annoyed when he's relegated to 6 minutes a game due to Ime not being good at palyer rotations...but if he can get a bit better and it ends up being closer to 10-15 a night, then he's MUCH better off getting 10-15 minutes a night in the NBA than playing every minute of every game in the D League.
Why not? Right now he's averaging 11.8 minutes per game....and that's despite Ime's struggles running proper rotations. FVV played less than 8 minutes per game and Steve Nash only played 10 minutes a game his rookie season...hell Kobe only played 15 a game his rookie season. Not every player gets 32 minutes per game from day one like Jalen Green....and let's face it, do we really want to repeat that mistake?
Sengun only averaged 18 a game for the first 20 games his rookie season as arguably the best player on the team.
And this boiled my blood because I knew he was going to be good which confused me as to why he was limited to minutes.
Coulda used more Reed and less Unsteady Freddie tonight. Kid looked good out there today. His chemistry with Sengun is noticeable.
FVV helped us win against OKC and to demand that he is having 2 back to back great games is too much to ask for.
For 43 million, I would hope not, but apparently as long as he has one good game out of a bunch, that’s OK.
It would be nice if he ends up shooting like Prichard - but he is going to be a better passer and creator for others.... better at causing chaos on defense with his hands as well.
Although a quarter of the season is over - Sheppard has only played like 200 minutes in the NBA and taken like 80 shots. All of that while playing with different players around him and being asked to play point sometimes and shooting guard other times. I don't really have a strong read on him because he just hasn't seen enough time on the floor consistently. He is usually (but not always) making the right decisions and not having mental lapses on defense, and in volume he is a good shooter - so I suspect that is why he isn't in the G-League, I am not sure that the G-League would do a lot for him honestly. He needs to get used to the length, strength and speed of the NBA compared to high end college.
Nash did develop on another team. He started on Dallas and they let him walk. I hope the same thing doesn't happen with Sheppard. Edit: Actually he was drafted by Phoenix, didn't get playing time, and was traded to Dallas. Improved in Dallas, and they let him walk in free agency back to Phoenix. So he wasn't given time to develop.
The 42 million most of the time people would want to take it back but you can't....... I am assessing him to the standard of a Prime FVV, and a Prime FVV could not even score big in succession. To the best of his ability.
I believe this also. As phenomenal as Amen is on the defensive side of the ball, he doesn't have the natural PG instincts that Reed has (or at least he hasn't shown them recently). Last year I think we saw Amen more as a playmaker, but this year when Amen has the ball he's trying to score. JG has been more of a playmaker than Amen.
I think the whole team has bought into this run to the rim and crash the boards mentality. It works a lot, but it gets really ugly when they force it and miss easy passes. Tari, Amen and Jalen have all forced some really bad drives into traffic the last few games.
