Great job Azeez. This was no doubt a reputation thing too with his prior incident this season and his behavior after the play. He showed no remorse. The fact he hit a QB, and knocked him out of game didn't help either.

That being said, I was only expecting 1, maybe 2 games. This will weaken a team that already *barely* wins games. Great job, Azeez.

Once he got immediately jumped on and pounded in the "aftermath", I'd take away any suspension for his reaction. 2 games sounds about right.

Also if you read his "apology" carefully it comes across as "I'm sorry you got hurt" and not "I'm sorry for what I did to you".

I hear you but I'm with Jeff Saturday on this one. This morning on Get Up Saturday said that if someone had hit Peyton Manning like that the entire OL would have had to be suspended because they were going go after the guy. And if that had been CJ lying on the ground you and I would want our team to respond in the same manner.

100% absolutely. But that shouldn't make his suspension any longer.

if my players are worried about the affects of making tackles I don’t want them on my team. Keep that soft **** outta any of our pro sports.

Players need to learn what contact is allowed and what is gonna get you flagged/fined/suspended.

Same with the hip drop, same with hitting in the knees while engaged, etc....

There's nothing wrong with making the game safer for the players.

eta: ...and protecting the players from themselves

i used to feel the same way. I grew up watching guys make some of the most brutal hits imaginable with the worst being Jack Tatum's hit on Daryl Stingley that left him a quadriplegic. However, my viewpoint changed after watching this documentary on PBS:

The ones on Carr and Brady were pretty egregious, the others not so much at all.

I remember watching those VHS tapes. I think one was called "Crunch Course". Some of the hits were absolutely brutal. The ones that still stand out to me was the one on Frank Gifford and the one on Len Dawson.

Yeah, those examples are pretty weak. If that's the entire basis of their giving him a longer suspension based on "history" then they're going out of their way to make an example of him.

All that to say, he deserves a suspension and it was a bad hit. Absolutely no excuse for doing what he did. But the suspension should have been based on that hit and that hit alone.

Yes, we all grew up with that. The rules have changed.

eta: the Caleb Williams hit on the sideline (posted above) wasn't nasty, it was just really unnecessarily stupid.

He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer

The question is do you think a 3 game suspension is warranted given previous precedent with similar injunctions?

On the flip side, should "fake slides" by QBs be outlawed?

He didn’t include the late hit on Tennessee (believe it was Pollard) but that one was bad.
