Ime at the deadline is going to be all smiling talking about how he is looking forward to add a vet, 6th man type who can shoot for 40% from three. Then Stone is going to say: "We're happy with the group we have." Felicia is going to tweet something about searching for things when you already have them.
MLEs are now trade exceptions. Detroit, for instance, can take Landale into cap space and Jeff Green into the room MLE. So while there is not a lot of cap space out there, I'd guess there is at least $125M in cap space, MLEs, and TPEs out there if not more in at least $8M chunks (i.e., capable of taking Jeff Green, Landale, Tate, or Holiday).
I'd just like to point out that the Rockets have been really good since last trade deadline (6th in wins).
A lot, I'm sure. I doubt Green could be included at the deadline because of the PPP, so it would likely have to be a package centered around Eason or Amen. I wouldn't do Amen, but I'd be tempted to trade Eason towards Fox if he's interested in resigning here.
A Fox / Sengun / Amen core makes so much sense, especially since Fox is only 26. Their skillsets are perfectly complementary. The only very minor flaw is Fox isn’t the greatest 3 pt shooter, so we would have to surround them with shooters.
Slap on how ever many FRPs are needed, and the PPP is easily addressed by the MLE and BAE that Sacramento has. Just got to get Sacramento to want to trade him and are okay with Green, Holiday, Adams, and picks.
Beyond the PPP, I just don’t think we would pique the King’s interest without including Amen or Eason.
Even with all the picks I think they turn it down. We have no guarantee lottery picks and trading a player on the low end for their best player. If the two switched stats to start the year the trade would make more sense but then why would we do it? only way I see it is if he tells them I’m gone in free agency and only want to be traded to Houston but I would think that even if you suck this year you would want to see the draft lottery before jumping ship.
How about... FVV, Eason, Whitmore and draft capital for Fox and Huerter The Kings can refocus around Sabonis, Eason, and Murray, and, if they decline FVV's option, I think they'll have a max slot next offseason. We take our big swing that basically rounds off our team. Fox / Green / Brooks / Smith / Sengun Amen / Sheppard / Huerter / Landale or Adams Again, I only offer the above if Fox will definitely extend with us.
The 2027 and 2029 Phoenix picks and 2027 Brooklyn swap are probably the best three pick combo available in a trade right now (i.e., most likely lottery picks are owned by rebuilding teams and 2025 lottery picks aren't being traded at the deadline). If Fox asks out or Kings realize they will lose him for nothing, Houston has the best picks offered. OKC has more quantity of picks. So odds are, Houston will have the best offer for Fox if he becomes available and the Rockets want him. I'm not sure the Rockets offer more than 3 FRPs along with Cam and Green. Here's similar to my last one except adding Cam for Ellis.
Really good player and would obviously be a major upgrade for us, but I do wish he was a better shooter. 33% career from 3 and only shooting 34% this yr. Obviously you can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, he’s all star caliber and he fits our timeline. But just wish he could stretch the floor from deep. I wouldn’t hesitate to package Jalen and other assets to go after him this summer if he’s available.
Two or three years ago, you throw Fox’s name in a trade proposal and you would get scoffed and ridiculed. Not much has changed with him over that time. I assume the thought was that Jalen would have far surpassed him at this point. Now that reality has set in, he is the belle of the ball.
I root for Fox as a Houston guy, but no I don't think that core makes much sense. The one thing we need in a star trade is an elite halfcourt offensive player. It's our one weakness, and the one big obstacle to potential postseason success. Fox is not a great halfcourt offensive player. Fox's offensive value comes from being elite at increasing the frequency of transition opportunities, scoring in transition, driving to the rim on a scrambled floor. Things we're already good at. Fox is just good but not great at halfcourt offensive things. His halfcourt pts/play on/offs are just OK, not great. He struggled to create good offense in his one playoff appearance. Also -- I find it unlikely this FO would pay the price the Kings would be looking for for the honor of giving a $300M contract to a 1x All-Star, ~25th best player in the league, league average TS% type. I think Stone is too contract value oriented for that. Fox is the kind of guy we'd have traded a big package for, if this year had gone poorly instead of how it's gone -- this team already being really good. But Idk maybe the Houston connection compels them.
How about No. As good as Harden was, I'm not throwing away assets for a project that has already proven to be a failure.
Sign and trades are really bad for teams in the new cba. There are penalties for it. That’s why people say Jalen’s contract is better than nothing because people would rather trade for a contract than take the penalty of a sign and trade.
S&Ts are incredibly tricky with the new CBA. If Fox makes it past the deadline, it’s far, far more like he resigns with the Kings. There is just way too much downside for guys like him to leave in FA.
