Well done, big man! Would like Sengun's shooting efficiency to be a lot higher, but he is doing everything else at a SUPER high level - defense included! He has been the best player on one of the best teams in the NBA - well earned!
JG won player of the week and also player of the month. Not here to rag on JG, just on the Rockets player haters.
It's amazing and sad that some on CF cannot enjoy the fact that a Rockets player got league recognition for his play. Criticism of a player is par for the course, but it has gotten to the point of absurdity. Let's all have some perspective and, I know this will raise the blood pressure of folks on this board, but as the wise elderly DD stated, "Let's just enjoy the ride". Like DD or not, let's take a deep breath and, indeed, just enjoy this version of the Rockets and pause just a day or two from all the fire-breathing. Happy holidays.
March of last year, during the winning streak according to Forbes but according to other sources he lost to Luka. Either way, he played great that month. Edit: Looks like indeed he was nominated and lost to Luka, so you are correct he didn't win, just nominated.
Salvy is Os Trigonom’s alter - their response to anything positive about Sengun is to post snarky comments that are meant to satirize the occasionally hyperbolic praise from “Sengun-Only fans” but fail miserably. Basically, they’re like those two old muppets in the balcony seats only entirely unfunny.
I think the most surprising thing to me about this post isn't just the "I think Sengun played bad in these 3 games", but that you truly believe everyone who actually watched the games would come to the same conclusion and agree with you. You live on a different planet dude. Whatever you are doing to analyze the game is just completely wrong. You've got no idea what you're watching.
Putting aside the bitterness and absurdity of this post from someone who claims to be a Rockets fan downplaying a Rockets player winning an award, this is also just an ignorant an inaccurate comment overall. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if someone puts up great numbers with their stats evenly distributed among all four quarters or if they were quiet for three quarters and did all their damage over the course of a few minutes. Production is production. And you cannot ignore how dominant he has been in clutch time, especially those two OT periods in the last week. As a longtime Harden fan and admitted Harden apologist, a guy like Sengun who struggles at times (often earlier in games), but steps up big when it matters most, is a breath of fresh air. Sengun wants the ball late in games and thrives in those moments. He was a deserving winner, and he's having an All-Star caliber (arguably All-NBA caliber) season.
Once Alpi fixes his slow starts and regains his touch around the basket - look out. And once his teammates start making more of the open shots he creates for them, and he improves his 3-point shot - look out even more. 25/11/10/1/1.
The touch will definitely come back (not that you were doubting that). We have 3 seasons of data to show he has really good touch. I imagine the downtick in efficiency is due to the increased tenacity on defense. Dude is locked in on that end. That and the rebounding effort.
IIRC, ashley stated female in her info/bio, it's no longer there though. Who knows, you can be whatever you want to be in the interwebzs!! Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
