Still believe in Cam. I think had a hot shooting streak but overall what he is is a project. We have to build him up from scratch but we know the blueprint: defense, unselfishness, 3pt shooting and bullying his way to the basket. It's going to take 2-3 years from when he was drafted. Just be patient with him, there's a lot to work on. Give Udoka some time to work his magic.
If Cam would have been thrown in as a starter like Jalen was he would already be miles better than Jalen. DD
I mean green is not an efficient scorer. I think Cam has potential to be an efficient scorer. But man needs to look to make the right play more often
Jalen developed the right mindset under Udoka in his first year. Whitmore still has tunnel vision and bad defense so I doubt he would be better than Jalen. In fact he would prob be worse cuz he would do his best Melo impression and just keep jacking all the shots every game. Whitmore has extreme talent but mindset is everything.
No one is getting on Ime's floor this year unless they show a consistent commitment to smart high-effort defense. I would love for Cam to get there but he is light years away right now. He could score 50 a game at RGV and it won't matter at all if they don't see his defensive chops improving.
I think Cam's struggles can be attributed to being suddenly put behind Reed in the rotation right from the very first game of the season
This proves that he will be jetting back and forth........at least he is not a flight risk named Royce.
He can pass the ball, he just doesn't do it. Truth is, there's not much he can't do on the court, he's just too immature to understand that he needs to do more than just score. If he ever figures that out, he could be really really good. I hope he's smart enough to get there, but I don't know if he is or not.
I think we have the right coach to help him. In time he will probably be a great player for us. It's amazing how much young talent we have.
The Rockets are winning now. So I guess no playing time available for Cam Whitmore. What if someone like Jalen Green or Dillon Brooks gets injured? Does that increase the likelihood of Cam Whitmore being recalled from G-League to the active team roster?
If Cam can't hit 3-pointers, he's useless and unplayable. If he was shooting 40% from 3 instead of 5%, he would have never been sent to G-League.
The other reality is that the options ahead of him are pretty damn good. He was given some opportunities early in the season, but ultimately didn't deliver besides that one good game that he had against Dallas. His shooting was atrocious as well. Yeah, he is a rhythm player, but the Rockets currently have a lot of good players ahead of him. We can't compromise our season to wait on Cam. I loved Cam's instant offense last year and would be great to have it this year, but if his approach to offense didn't change over the offseason, it's unlikely to change over the course of the season.
It was on very very low volume.....the problem is you can't play 10-11 guys and win.....we are better with an 8.5 man rotation with Sheppard getting the .5.....but I contend if you benched Jalen for Cam we would be even better...... Not right away, but within a couple of months. DD
