Fred VanVleet will be the worst FA acquisition in Rockets history

I mean I even have my doubts but it's way to early to dismiss it. His handles aren't atrocious. They aren't Gerald Green level. He probably needs reps and confidence.

I was able to watch the final 2 minutes of this game — the decision-making, the shooting, the free throws, the getting the ball across half-court — without having to wear adult diapers. That alone was worth the $80 mil.

 

Fred and Dillon have been instrumental in changing the culture Silas cultivated.

The team has so much fight that everyone seems to acknowledge, you can’t play if you don’t bring your “A” defensive game…

FVV's best ever shooting performance as a Houston Rocket. Sengun and he have developed good chemistry.

 

One thing people dont get is FVV is a coach enabler, he follows the game plan of the coach thats why coaches love him. Even the Sixers coach said he is biased because FVV is his guy.

FVV was the perfect guy to head this team and rebuild a brand new culture based on defense and effort. If we had signed Harden while Harden is the better player we would have had a culture of strip clubs and Harden being The System.

Instead of being an elite defender Sengun would probably be an elite partyer and Amen would learn gold digger defense rather than perimeter defense.

 

I just assume anybody who thinks FVV isn't a highly impactful player just doesn't know a damn thing about basketball, this was obvious very early on. He was overpaid because we had to entice him into a s**t situation, but he was brought in to do exactly what he has done. Stabilize the offense, play great defense and lead by example.

The Rockets brought him in assuming he would be phased out over his 2 seasons as the primary perimeter creator, unfortunately nobody has stepped up to this role. It's not FVV's fault Green has been a disappointment. Sengun on the other had has taken his game to a higher level since FVV got here.

On top of all the that, the contract isn't bad, it was never bad. He got (cap wise) meaningless extra money in years we had cap space to burn and came off the books when we hoped to have it.

 

That's an interesting take considering Harden is currently captaining one of the best defensive teams in the league. I don't see Harden teaching elite partying and gold digger defense to DJJ and Kris Dunn.

I do know that he just beat Denver going blow-for-blow with the best player in basketball. I do know that just happened.

 

DJJ is 28 and Kris Dunn is 30. They are old ass vets Harden didnt teach them ****. Playing well in the regular season is part of Harden's MO wait till he performs in the playoffs cuz thats when he chokes.

I mean it was a great game, but does this one game really erase all the boneheaded plays and horrible misses lately lwhen we need him?

 

FVV got better as a team player and decision maker. Congrats to Ime for fixing him.

 

Van Gundy is on that team and we know JVG's Defense is always Top 5 .....and he lets his star players take control on Offense.

I still remember that Harden's best months were December and early January from his Houston days.
