Favorite Rocket is Tari due to his boundless energy, effort, impact and dude's personality. He is hilarious. A real character. Amen is a very close second. He is my favorite Rocket to watch play because I cannot remember watching a defender on his level. He can lock up anyone; all archetypes. Amen is the one I believe will be our franchise player. ALP is a close third. Seems there is a consensous that Tari, Amen and Alp in some order áre the three faves. Who chose Jalen? That you @Bobbythegreat ? Keep the terror twins together. They are force magnifiers for each other. A serious cheat code like no other. Favorite player to hate on is Jock because he makes it so easy to.
Right now, barely Tari over Amen. A few games ago, easily Tari. Fun, funny, and smart. He's even funny on the court, during games. Amen might be the most interesting, though. I love watching him lock up superstars. I'm impressed with how much his shooting has improved, just since the start of the season. Absolute joy to watch! Adams was a fave early on, but he's not producing enough to hold my interest.
I voted for Sengun because of his all round game. His defense has really gotten better and he can now pass the ball on the break, but Amen's finishing around the basket and defense is the best right now. He's a very close second.
Sengun Honestly, don't know who is second. As frustrating as Green can be, he is still a highlight dunk waiting to happen. Tari and Amen are also super exciting to watch on defense. I'd put those three in the second tier of favorites. Brooks, Fred and Jabari in the next tier-- I don't dislike them, they just don't excite me. Then there's everyone else.
This is kind of how I group them. 1. Amen 2. Tari 3. Sengun This is the core that I would want to build around. Untouchable. 4. Green 5. Cam Superstar potential/talent but don’t have the heart (Green) or IQ (Cam) to be consistent. If either turn it around watch out. Either could end up being a superstar that could lead us to the next level, but both are the most likely to be traded if we decide to upgrade because other teams may want to take a flyer on their potential. Mentally, I get Russ vibes from Cam (just dumb) and TMac/Harden vibes from Green (diva). Those aren’t winning players but they are superstars. So… I find that potential intriguing. Will they ever turn it around? 6. Jabari 7. Reed Unlike the above 2, they have it between the ears but don’t have the same raw talent. I think their ceilings are really good role players (which is fine- all teams need those). Both are super likable and guys you want to root for. Both were drafted to boltster our shooting and have been very inconsistent in that area. However, they find ways to impact the game when the shot isn’t falling rather than continuing to jack up bad looks like Cam/Jalen. These aren guys you’d hate to lose because you like them, but also know that they are replaceable. 8. Dillon 9. FVV The vets that deserve a TON of credit for being the on-court extensions of Ime and the culture he is implementing in Houston. Fred’s size is problematic to me and he has stretches where he makes some really bad decisions. He’s definitely a culture guy/offensive leader though. I’m a lot higher on Dillon. He’s fearless, sets the defensive tone and has hit some really big shots. He’s the blueprint my two favorite Rockets followed and his huge contract was worth it for that alone. Grind, play hard defense, and find ways to impact the game even when plays aren’t run for you. Unsung hero. The only “issue” is Tari and Amen have sat under his learning tree and have taken on all his best personality traits but also have physical gifts Brooks lacks, making him now expendable if a move needed to be made. Still one of the most underrated signings of this rebuild. 10. Holiday Holiday is the definition of stay ready. I love this guy and love that he is getting minutes in spots. Way too talented to be a 13th man, but that’s how deep this team is. Adams/Jock I feel Adams is washed. It does not look like just a conditioning issue. He looks like his knees are shot. He is getting out jumped, out hustled and out positioned. His defense and rebounding appear to be non-existent. The one good thing he does is set screens. Jock looks a bit better to me, but still not really a rotation piece. He only really gets burn because his size. I’d love to move on from both and get a big with more to offer than mass. Some vertical spacing or the ability to run would be a dream.
Favorite Jalen Green Tari Eason Cam Whitmore [ All players I promoted the Rockets draft ] Jabari [ wanted in draft but can be used in deal for better talent ] Couldn't have Sengun and Banchero together. Defense would have been an issue. Spacing on offense. I predicted Chet would be injured often.
I voted amen. It’s not only the defensive instincts and ability but I love how he euro around and just takes it directly to the basket. He just makes it look so easy. He’s not the best player but I love watching him.
My personal favorite is Amen, he just seems like a great kid who loves the game of basketball and busts his ass on and off the court, and it helps that I kind of called my shot on liking him prior to the draft
I dont really root for one player. Haven't had a favorite player since D Wade. I want them all to do well together on the Rockets team. I'm rooting for everyone equally. I tend to root more for a player if they are getting hate though.
Sengun and Tari. I love how they came in at picks 16 and 17 and have humbly earned their roles and their place on the team. My dad was sold on Tari before he started his rookie season, being an LSU fan, and predicted he would have a big impact. I love that he was spot on about it and remind him all the time about his pick. If anyone casually asked me I would say Alpi but for this poll I gave my vote to Tari.
Not necessarily, some players you do not even need to root for proactively if one's lazy because they are just that compelling. I picked the player I most identify with for example, culturally. Someone that comes thru even if I do not have the time to actively watch games and root for him. My second favorite is Tari but he is too crazy for me to identify ....still like his overall style and toughness. Third one a tie between Uncle Jeff, Fred Van Vleet, JaSean Tate, Amen, Reed. Not really high on list: Jalen and Jabari but I hope they improve their value.
I love watching Amen play. He is the new Magic. I get ridiculed for that comparison, but i will end up with the last laugh.
I root for all the Rockets as a father would do for his kids. If I had to pick: 1- Alpi. My favourite player growing up was Chris Webber. Love post up plays. 2- Tari. Provides excitement on the defensive end even for me, who prefers offensive focus any given day. 3- Cam. He’s mean. Like his alpha vibe. If he can back it up with his game, that’ll be great.
Tall order because nobody was Magic. LBJ didnt have enough flair and finesse and showmanship. Despite better stats.
Sengun is No. 1. I've just loved his game and personality since he came into the league. Clearly the best current player on the team. But Amen is a close second and closing fast. Big fan of FVV and Tari as well, but I like pretty much everyone on the roster. Jalen and Dillon can be occasionally frustrating, but I still generally enjoy watching them play for Jalen's athleticism and Dillon's defensive energy.
I echo the love of defense and so glad it is back on the Rockets in a big way. Watching a guy get stripped of the ball followed by a well executed fast break is my favorite part of the game. To me it shows real attention to detail in watching the other player and you have to be fully engaged and time things just right to pull it off. That's why Amen and Tari are my two favorite guys at the moment with Amen having a slight lead due to his overall icy cool and calm demeanor. No screaming and hollering and self glorification, just straight business. I love players like that. Save that **** for when you win not when you need to be back on the other side of the court working. P.S. - I have noticed, thanks to Fred and Amen and probably Udoka, Jalen has really calmed down with the showboating and he's slowly started to gain my respect despite his shooting woes.
