Are there Heat influencers here or something. Yet another thread with an idea to add a washed non-shooter to a young team of which main problem is shooting. And do not forget that he had an opportunity to join James and CP3 in his prime but did not do so. So F that guy. The only offer Rockets should consider is if it is for Jeff Green and they do attach at least a couple of FRP to him.
I would need 5-7 business days to respond to a trade request for Butler that involves Amen Thompson. Because I would be on the ground in a fit of uncontrollably laughter for 5-7 days straight.
This is the craziest analysis I’ve ever read lol. You would trade 2 top 10 picks for an aging injury prone rental of Jimmy Butler??? Reed was a star in summer league and barely gets playing time with our roster. Jalen is only 22 and is averaging 20 ppg. Put down the pipe.
Doesn't seem like a high price to me
You are forgetting salary and health. In principle I agree with you in looking for an obvious upgrade but Butler is old, on the decline, often injured and looking for a max deal. I don't really get your last sentence. Since the Rockets are in a great position with youth and flexibility you want us to have a short window with an oft injured star who wants to get paid 35% of the cap?

If it's 5 or 6 years before, this might be a good trade. But today? Unless you're a Miami fan...
I don't even get the point. Rockets are 2nd seed already lol. Does Butler put us over Celtics? Doubt it.
Who would trade "2 top 10 picks" for Jalen Green and his $100 million extension and Reed Sheppard who is validating all the "least talented draft class in 10 years" prediction The fact that you have to think of them as top 10 (actually top 3 ) picks rather than what they are (inconsistent highly paid 2 guard and guy who should be in G league) means something here.
I agree. If it's 5 or 6 years before, this might be a good trade. But today? Unless you're a Miami fan...
So then let Butler walk. I don't think his negotiating position is strong People overestimate the danger of " losing a guy for nothing " - it's good for the Clippers they got off Paul George.
It's better to let the youngins work their way up. I always like both Alpi and Green. They're like a combo of Green/Curry albeit with a different angle. Yeah sure, they don't play like the later but I feel the same vibe with their sets of strengths and weaknesses distributed differently among Alpi and Green. Oh and to add, more inconsistent.
I’d give any number of players for Butler. Jalen, Tate, Adams, Jock, Cam, Holiday, Dillon… any combination that gets it done. What I wouldn’t give up are picks.
Jimmy Butler is an aging one year rental. If we don’t win or contend in the NBA finals then we lost 2 assets for nothing. Jalen Green at 30+ million isn’t the max deal and he’s still 22 with a defensive rating in the top 40. Jimmy butler is literally averaging less points per game than Jalen and isn’t higher on the defensive rating list. He plays in less games and is averaging his lowest point total in 5 years. Explain how that trade would make any sense
Jalen is worth more than that they would have to add picks. Dillon is better than Butler at this stage of his career. Jimmy would be a problem for this team. He wouldn't except a bench role and he is not a good outside shooter.
I think Ant would be worth it tho. Not that the T wolves will ever trade him. Two way player who is clutch and can generate his own offense would be perfect for this team. We would be championship contenders if we got him too. Also he isn’t 35 like someone else…
