Should be fixed by the time most read this, but: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba;_ylc=X3oDMTBpNWRudGx2BF9TAzk1ODYxODk5BHNlYwN0bg--
Yeah, someone alread posted it in the game thread. It's funny. The headline writer *wants* Shaq to win, so maybe he can change the results! Good thing the guy doesn't play Las Vegas.
I watched the game too. I didnt see Shaq dominated Yao and Mutumbo at all. Did this guy watch the same game?
If you've read any of the articles about the game (not including the Chronicle) you would swear that Shaq was the only player and that he dominated the game for a huge win. Reading some of them, I forgot that the Rox were actually playing.
The article was probably written before the game was played. Looking at ESPN, etc, you'd think Shaq just found the cure for cancer. Granted 17 & 7 in 22 minutes isn't bad, but it isn't exactly amazing either. At that rate, he'd play close to 40 minutes to get 30 points. That's pretty typical Shaq production. Nevermind the fact that his team lost. Funny how McGrady and his team winning plays second fiddle to Shaq's losing effort. Is Shaq really being watched that much more closely than T-Mac? Has T-Mac actually stepped out of the limelight a bit by joining the Rockets?
Still not fixed. I looked for the guy's e-mail so that I could e-mail the jackass & ask him how he is the AP's basketball writer when he can't even read the boxscore right. Alas, I failed in my attempt.
LOL! Yep. I was thinking the same thing. Shaq is the media darling. What the Rockets need to do is prove that we will dominate! And Tmac needs to resurrect his career with Yao helping. A good dose of "Yao Karma!"
Yes and yes. As far as the ESPN crowd is concerned, Shaq and Kobe ARE the NBA. And they always will be until they're dead. Physically deceased, as in not alive.
Still not fixed. Well, I certainly felt like an idiot when I went to Yahoo's NBA front page. I don't live in the US so I rely a lot on ClutchFans for Rockets' news. Anyway, a friend of mine is a Heat fan and soon after the game I was gloating about the Heat's opening defeat. Lo and behold, I later go to Yahoo's front page and it says I was wrong. I started thinking that I must have been trippin when reading the Rox v Heat thread just after the game finished. Last season Yahoo said in a game preview that Eddie Griffin would be starting for the Rox at SF. I think Yahoo may be the mind-bending, Kafka-esque mouthpiece of the NBA.
I think every writer in America was going to put their "slant" on the game. The "story" was Shaq's debut with the Heat. No matter WHAT happened that was how the news was going to be fashioned in the report. Like they say, never let the "facts" get in the way of a good "story" Why cant news just be reported without a slant?
Thanks LegendZ3...I gave them a piece of my mind, not that anyone will read it or that it matters, but it made me feel better .
Now Fixed And Says "Heat is on: Shaq sharp in preseason opener Shaq tried on his new uniform and a new number. (AP) If Sunday's game was any indication, Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo will be happy Shaquille O'Neal is in the other conference. In his first game in a Heat uniform, Shaq looked surprisingly nimble in getting the better of his Houston counterparts despite the Rockets' 85-75 preseason win over Miami "
