Also the three point shot is a bad shot for Sengun right now, it hurts his and the team’s efficiency. But I want him to keep taking it to build confidence and improve it for the long run. Same reason Reed and Adams are getting minutes even though that hurts the team right now.

He hardly gets any easy buckets, like a guard driving to the rim dishes to him for an easy layup or a favorable whistle for fouls. 60% ts is very good for his age and situation. He should be okay, unless his issues to start the season are consistent.

Compare him to any other star big and you will not find another team with less perimeter creation to set up easy shots for their bigs. Not many teams rely on their big man to create as much as we do with Sengun. Jokic has Murray, Domas has Fox, Embiid has Maxey and now George.

More importantly though, Sengun HAS taken massive leaps every season, maybe not in ts% but his impact on the game, his impact on winning which is the ultimate measure for a player (ts% helps). Bpm from +3 to +7 this season. EPM from +1.7 to +3.4 this season. He has taken the leap this season, again.

Fred is currently better and for his career has been better than Murray, and Murray is always injured. Sengun has definitively improved massively year over year though even if his efficiency isn't great

Alright, I think we just disagree. You're not concerned, I am. Obviously we saw massive improvements in all the other areas, that's why I didn't bring it up as an area of concern. But I don't think he can be the star we need with a TS in the mid/high 50s. The "really good at a lot of stuff, but inefficient" superstar never works out. The efficiency has to get there.

Very interesting. Thank you for doing and sharing the research. I am glad the stats support the eye test and hopefully I.e leans into this lineup more often.

I think the misses on offense are just because he isn't used to spending 70% of his energy on defense.

Once he gets used to that, his offense will come back.

That will be the superstar leap.

He didn’t have to deal with the level of attention he’s facing now in the first 2 years of his NBA career. Even last year, it took a while for the league to wake up. His efficiency and raw production went down around December with the adjusted attention from the opposition. It’s work in progress since then. I’d combat this with my mid-range game. For some reason, last December was the time he stopped going into Flamingo motion. In any case, he has time to learn and improve further. We all know he has a great track record on improving.

Our personnel doesn’t make it easy on him to be efficient. Think of last night. After our guys started to hit 3s as any NBA team would do, he had too much space to operate in. No help defender in sight, cooked the DPOY.

The greater challenge is increasing FGA & improving TS%.

We’ll be expecting +27 pts. on avg. in 3 years.

Mid 50s is no good but the floor I think is last years 58.5%. Another note about last year, while he did dip by 1%, you realize his FGA went up by 50% more?

I agree with this...I dont care if Sengun misses 5 3s but missing easy shots near the basket is a huge concern...and excusing him for missing shots because of his defensive effort...is just an excuse for a professional basketball player. If Sengun is an untouchable Rockets cornerstone, he needs to make those...he is better than this! He should be better than this!

Fred is better at a lot of things than Murray and I wouldn’t even argue if you said he’s the better overall player, but in terms of self creation or creating advantages for teammates that’s not Fred’s strength, he’s a game manager.

Ya self creation Murray is better for sure, creating for others meh, he's not that good at it. He's more hype than substance, that's a 25ish win team w/o jokic

Yes of course I realize it. Look man, I get it's hard, you don't have to convince me it's hard. But this is what every superstar has done, it's what they all have to do. More volume with more efficiency, every year, over over over, until you land in the "both high volume and high efficiency" tier. Of course it's hard to do, that's why there's only like 5-8 guys in this tier in the entire league that can do it. If Sengun wants to get there, this is what he has to do. And that's the expectation I have of him.

The higher expectations are much more of a compliment then an insult. Everyone would be THRILLED if jalen eventually became the 15th best SG, but if sengun peaks as the 5th best center everyone will be disappointed.

Great 2nd half from Alpi and he did what superstars do in OT.

What are they saying about Sengun?
Surely, the couple taking selfies with Sengun went viral.
