Click on the link above to see Shaq and Jalen Rose and Charles Barkley talk about Alpi and the Rockets. Looks like I am banned not only from sharing "Sardunyaya" tweets but also from sharing "FranchiseSenung" tweets.
As long as the Sengunatix keep the glazing here it's all gravy. The Jalen stans infesting every other player thread during the offseason was mad annoying. Don't care if he's better than Amen or Amen is better than him. Just need both to be All-Stars (and not be on the bench). Have a hard time seeing Sengun getting into the. One day him and Amen will both have a triple double in a game.
Last night against Minny, I thought Alpi leveled up. If he can build on last night's game, then I think he's well on his way to being our #1 and centerpiece. I also loved how Amen dug in and came up with big play after big play. Bari as well. Our young guys are getting a taste of winning and learning what it takes to do that consistently. Love what I saw last night.
Don't know about anyone else but for me the single-issue posters are 100 times more annoying when they're negative compared to positive. If you want to go around talking about how great one player is I think that's way more tolerable than ******** on a player nonstop.
Scroll up, read the thread title, come back and look at what you wrote. OF COURSE IT IS, you silly you.
I agree with this. Unfortunately, some feel they have to do both. ATW throws in an I love Amen or I'm glad I reversed jinxed Jabari with my thread about replacing him to act like he is not a one-trick pony. I bought it for a while, but it has just got annoying as hell. Some are starting to see Amen as our most likely superstar, so it is only a matter of time before ATW throws up multiple stats to prove that wrong. My question is why? What difference does it make who is the next superstar on this team? If you are a true Rocket fan, it doesn't. I've been a big proponent of moving Dillon out of the starting line-up, but not to the point that I can't admit that he is playing great so far this year, because it has been great for the team.
So you had to make something up so you can argue a strawman. Also, you were dead wrong about Dillon. But I was wrong about Dillon also. Saw him as a trade piece. Now I see him as a keeper.
OK looks like I can still quote this tweeter - and others can still quote Sardunyaya or whatever his name is. It's tailored to me not being able to quote that guy's tweets lol...must have taken a bit of extra effort to implement this .
This was a great game by Sengun, but it also had some infuriating moments, as he just kept missing bunny after bunny that he easily made last year. What is going on? Is he still recovering his timing after the ankle injury, similar to what happened with Landale last year? Or is it just fatigue from his focus on defense? Besides that, this was probably the best defense I've seen from Sengun so far. His pick and roll defense was perfect, and he even stayed in front of Edwards when he got isolated on the baseline. Amazing. But probably my favorite moment, just because it seemed so innocuous in comparison to everything else he did, was that face up mid range basket from about the free throw line after he crossed over Gobert. He will be very hard to guard if he gets consistent around that range. 5:32 mark here:
His efficiency is really really concerning, and I hope it's something he can figure out. I've always said there's no such thing as an inefficient superstar, terrible efficiency is disqualifying by itself. Whatever the problem is, he absolutely has to get it figured out. His TS% is slowly and slightly ticking up this season (49% in his first 10 games, 56% in his last 9 games) but even so, 56% is not good enough. The free throw improvements are noticeable and help him a lot. If he could start getting to the line more it would be huge for him. It would also be nice if he could start making some 3s. Or he could start making the bunnies that he's missed his entire career. But as good as Sengun has been this year, the efficiency is definitely something I'm concerned about.
It is a bit concerning, especially when thinking about him having superstar aspirations. However, as I implied, it seems like it takes some players quite a bit of time after a serious ankle injury to get their groove back. Last year, it took Landale until the second half of the season to start being serviceable. Perhaps something similar is happening to Sengun, as his footwork and timing seem very sloppy around the basket, much more so than in seasons past. It could also just be fatigue, or something else I am not thinking of. Hopefully it's not that he has regressed there... But bottom line, Sengun has been efficient throughout his short career, so I give him some leeway. He is also doing a lot of good things on the court besides scoring, so he is helping the team win, and that's what's most important.
Concerned as in you don’t think he will be able to make layups that he’s always made anymore in the future?
He's never been all that great efficiency wise, last season he was 1% above league and year before 3% above, this year he's at 7% below (which is what jalen was the last 2 seasons). For a big his efficiency has always been pretty poor. For him to get to superstar/top 5 player in the league status he would need a MASSIVE jump. His around the rim % should improve, there's no reason for it to be this low, most likely just variance.
Besides his overall efficiency, I thought there was a period at the end of the game where he just took shot after shot and missed them all. He is not playing these parts well yet, he was tired and not in control and took more shots than he should have and did not attack the rim either. To his credit he pulled himself together in overtime. I think it is a learning process. I don't have concerns with overall efficiency though.
Uh no. I'm concerned that he's never going to eliminate the "misses a lot of bunnies that should be easy makes" problem that he's had since his rookie year. Concerned that he is never going to get a star whistle to shoot 7-8+ free throws per game. Concerned he's never going to figure out a way to be consistent against long athletic rim protectors. Concerned that he'll never be a good three point shooter. You can pick and choose which of these he improves at and which ones he doesn't but ultimately the end result needs to be over 60% TS. Right now he's at 53%, that's really really bad. That's about where Jalen has been in his first 3 years, and we have relentlessly crapped on Jalen (deservedly so) for his inefficient scoring. Efficient scoring is really really really important, it's like the most important trait for a superstar. There are a variety of ways he can improve this, he has a lot of choices for things that he can fix, but the end result has to be over 60%, in my opinion. 55% as a rookie followed by 60% in his sophomore season I think actually puts him in pretty elite company. The problem is that year 3 needed to continue to go up, but instead it went down. And then you hope it was just a blip, and maybe year 4 he'd jump up again, but year 4 he is going in the opposite direction.
His efficiency went down by a whole 1% last year. Yes I would like to see it in the mid 60s but high 50s to 60% is fine for him given how much he has to create for himself since no one else on the team can create any advantages. I have less than zero concern that 53% is the new normal since he has already demonstrated two full seasons at near 60% and that he is missing easy shots that he has made for his entire career. It’s actually amazing that EPM and BPM put him at high level allstar level production today despite the 53% ts. It’s a testament to how much value he is providing on defense and creating for his teammates. Once his efficiency catches back up to the same level he has always demonstrated then he is at superstar level already at 22 years old. Concern level is none.
I never said I thought 53 was the new normal, so yeah, we agree there. The point is I want to see it go up. Sure, 1% down is not a big number, it's more about the fact that it went down and not up. You want to see 55 to 58 to 60 to 62 to 64, or some sort of progression like that. I'm definitely not concerned that it's going to stay in the low 50s, I think that's definitely not a problem. But the less movement we see in the right direction makes me less and less confident that he'll ever settle into the low 60s. In season 2 my confidence level of him being a 60-65% TS guy was very high. Right now my confidence that he becomes that guy is...let's just say it's a lot less high. That's where my concern is.
