I don't think that's a fair comparison, rockets and warriors had tons of battles and draymond is way dirtier than brooks. Brooks gets in one playoff series with bron and everyone turns on him. As a rocket I don't see him out there taking cheap shots. He just plays hard, in fact he's getting hit with elbows more than he's dishing out.
Sengun's transformation on defense, rebounds, challenging shots is the most amazing thing. Just a short time ago, it looked like he wouldn't any jump ball, wouldn't be able to contest any shots by guards attacking the rim, would have trouble securing rebounds. Now he is doing all that and getting steals, deflections, blocks. Just amazing!
Sengun decided at some point that not even the DPOY could guard him. He was giving Gobert *way* too much respect early on. Amazing second half from him. Please just make more of your shots at the rim. He'd be averaging well over 25 if he wasn't missing so many gimmies.
Anyone that knows how math works? All efficiency calculations do this, TS included. If I shoot 1/1 and you shoot 0/0 (get fouled), and go 2/2 on free throws, we both did the same thing. That’s 2 points on one shooting possession for each of us. Just because your box score says 0/0 doesn’t mean you didn’t use a shooting possession.
The rim protection from Alperen is only getting better. You want a better rim protector that Alperen? Pretty soon there will only be a handful of guys to choose from... See the sig. He is working on this. And those guys don't pass like this man. On track to be the 2nd best passing C ever to play basketball.
I've always figured the criticism towards Sengun's lack of defense stemmed more from preconceived notions of what a rim protecting center should look like as opposed to reality. And yes -- Sengun doesn't have Gobert's 7'9 wingspan. But, Sengun has advantages that are not as readily apparent. He's agile, he's intelligent, and, perhaps most important, he's incredibly flexible. Rim protection is more than just stuffing a few shots a game - it's about altering shots. And Sengun does that exceptionally well.
