He'll be a go-to player one of these years, whether here or somewhere else. He can't even grow facial hair yet and people been writing him off lol.

If he adds a post game he is going to be a problem for real.

Ofc he can get better. I would hope so, because today he is no where to “elite role player” yet, that’s why it’s his ceiling. But this is a guy that never creates his own shot or anything for his teammates, his defense is solid but not elite, there is nothing here at all that would suggest his ceiling is anything higher than great role player. THIS IS NOT SOME CONTROVERSIAL TAKE. I liked you from your prior posts, I have nothing against you. I have no idea why you insist on dying on this hill to fight with me. If you want to believe that he is some superstar in the making then go ahead, you don’t have to agree with me, stop harassing me about it

His weak area is dribbling and creating. If he had gone to certain teams he would likely done it more to some and be to some extent better now. For the Rockets though there are a bunch of players better at that. Sengun, Green, Thompson, Fred, now Reed.

I have always stood by in saying he is a winning player. That will hopefully down the line do some of the other things well WITHOUT the ball in his hands. Like the other half of baksetball defense. Shooting. Rebounding etc etc

How many guys on a complete and winning to team do you want that are going to have the ball in their hands? So "star" or not there is a hell of a lot more to winning basketball than just creating for others or your own shot.

If Green does not improve and just can't figure it out. It is looking like a lineup of:

    Sheppard
    Amen
    Eason
    Jabari
    Sengun

Could end up being a great lineup. It's going to be fun to watch.

Jabari is going to be an elite role player. Can’t wait to see him do it as a Rocket.

To date, no one has explained to me what defines an "elite role player." Is Draymond an "elite role player?" Was Bosh a "role player" on the Heat championship teams? Bari just put up a +30 in a close game against a good team. He absolutely has the ceiling to be one of the top 3 core players on a contender. Again...what does "role player" mean?

I still don't know why people cap his potential.

He's 21. He's going to be younger than some rookies next season. We drafted a teenager. Never forget that part of it.

Yeah, he's never going to have Durant handles, but he's gotten better at it. He's gotten stronger. He's getting confidence again now and I don't care how he scores just that he does. He doesn't have to have this elite face up game to become a go to guy, just get him open shots, pair him with a PG that can help him get to his spots and you might be surprised at what he'll be able to do.

I'm happy that he's been getting more shots lately. My biggest fear has always been that we're going to let him go and watch him bloom on some other team. I personally think and always thought he could be a core piece and I think he's been showing it outside of like the first week or so of the season.

Bosh no, dray probably not. Role player is someone who is asked to perform a very limited role, and is asked not to step out of their specific role. Ariza and capela were both elite role players for us. I’d say Derrick white and Jrue holiday are elite role players. Dillon brooks right now is a role player for us. And I would say Jabari is too.

Happy to define it for you. A “role player” is someone who isn’t a primary scoring option but instead specializes in specific tasks that support the team and complement the primary creators well. Jabari will be elite at those things, and so he’ll be an elite role player.

If that's the definition of a "role player," then I'm sorry -- that definition is stupid. So, again, Draymond Green is a role player? Chris Bosh was a role player for Miami's championship teams?

It will ultimately depend on his 3pt % and volume. He has the defense, he has the size but he doesn't have the handle and creation.

Yes, Brooks and Bari are, right now, role players. But the idea that Bari's ceiling is a "role player" is ludicrous.

Let me phrase the question differently -- if Bari develops into a guy who averages 18 - 20 ppg, 8 - 10 rpb, and is an excellent defender, is that a "role player?"

    lol

My friend, Draymond Green is one of the five best defenders in NBA history. His PnR and DHO plays with Steph are among the most unstoppable sets ever. He was an extraordinary offensive creator. What are you on about?

Yes, Chris Bosh was a role player on those teams, and if LeBron and Wade were on the bench, maybe his role expanded into a creator/primary role offensively, but that was the exception. As far as having a well rounded game, Jabari is not Bosh unfortunately.

… if he still isn’t a primary creator of offense for himself and others, and plays a complementary roles to the primary creator(s), then yes.
