Wow so young. he lived his life on the edge but was I ever happy when he went to my Padres. He was indeed a warrior. Prayers to his family and loved ones. +
I think he had 3 daughters. Absolutely awful. He was my favorite Astro for a long long time. I had met him twice and he was an awesome guy. He will be missed.
RIP, Cammy. I will miss your hustle. Steroids and crack both kill. In combination, they kill quickly. Stay away from both, my friends. As far as the effect on Bidge and Bags this evening, the death of their friend, after such a heart wrenching loss yesterday, will either inspire them to greatness or cause them to lay under the bench in a fetal position. Tonight's game will not be close like yesterday. Whoever wins will win big.
I still remember Caminiti's first homerun. Correct me if I'm wrong as my memory may be bad but I believe he was batting on the left side of the plate and he crushed a pretty high fastball. I remember the fastball being about shoulder high. He scorched it. Even if I don't recall it correctly, I know I saw it. I believe it was his first game in the big leagues. I may have recalled that incorrectly. I hope not.
Probably more with crack use unfortunately. He had just violated probation in Houston last week for failing a drug test.
very sad news... was just admiring my autograph caminiti ball i got after he gave me a batting lesson as a kid when i was in houston at my parents this weekend
I hung out with Cami once at a place called the "Ocean Club" here in Houston. We talked, drank beer and b****ed about Biggs DWI. What a cool guy, I think IMA_D said it best... +
RIP.. if we do happen to win today.. we got close to the cardinals when both teams lost kile.. hopefully mlb and the cardinals will do whatever possible to make sure the players can attend funeral etc... but at this point.. a win today means a lot less to me than it did yesterday
Wow. Sadly, this is the third Astro from the aerly 90s to have died. Of course, most everyone remembers Darryl Kile, but flash in the pan SS Andujar Cedeno died in a car wreck in late 2000.
I'm not sure that anyone in this game's history other than Brooks Robinson ever had a better arm at 3rd than Cam.
I always remember how he could go across the third base line to get to a grounder, and he would fire that ball like it came out of a cannon across the infield. I saw him take away so many would-be infield hits. Plus he could knock the cover off the ball when he got ahold of one.
