It's either a either a woke Jaguar or a 6 speed GT3 with a touring package. Still decoding. I like my combustion motors revving to 9000 rpm.

Ignoring the title and ridiculous focus of the thread, the rebrand does seem off. I read an article on Medium that I think sums it up nicely:

How Jaguar’s logo lost its roar

Jaguar just got rid of the jaguar. I saw the rebrand and was reminded of Facebook’s 2019 logo (before it became Meta) — both feel cold and robotic, as if these companies are trying to become Eye of Sauron-style Tech Giants instead of what they actually are. Here’s Jaguar’s before and after:

When you see a rebrand this drastic, it’s (sometimes) a cry for help. Jaguar is an 89-year-old brand whose sales have dropped 80% since 2017. It’s too uncool to compete with Bentley, too retro to rival Tesla. After years of declining relevance, Jaguar is suspending new car sales for a year before it reincarnates as an electric-only car manufacturer. It’s a brave strategy: Instead of incrementally improving their product, they’re going all-in on a vision they believe will save them long-term.

That’s why there’s no car in the ad.

Marketing vet Madelaine Lucy Hanson thinks the rebrand will alienate Jaguar’s core customer base: conservative men. Brand designer Aakansha Raj feels underwhelmed; now Jaguar looks the same as everyone else. And it’s true — so many brands have sanded down their edges over the last decade. Why is everything… bland?

One reason: Simpler shapes play better across today’s screens — especially on an internet where low-resolution images travel widely.

Still, if you want to stand out, maybe add some detail? In the words of design leader Himanshu Bharadwaj, “the decision to ditch the iconic leaping cat feels like swapping a timeless tuxedo for a tech startup hoodie. It whispers ‘relevance’ but risks losing the roar of rebellion.”

    Does it matter?

I'm pretty sure I could beat your lap time on a track day with you driving a C8 ZL1 and me driving a hybrid Accord.

I don't really have a strong opinion honestly - I don't expect the advertising campaign will work but I also do not think that it really matters because Jaguar was and has been on life support for awhile and it has only gotten worse the last few years.

Jaguar many moons ago was an English brand viewed as bold but refined and capable of appealing to those that had money and wanted the pep of a sports car while still having the luxury of a high end vehicle. It appealed to those with money.......... that was their market a long time ago, and over the decades they have lost that, they have tried very hard for a long time to get it back and it has overall not been effective at all, They have seen their market share decline no matter what they do. So - before shuttering the brand they are trying something else. They also don't expect to sell massive amounts of cars, they would be VERY happy with finding a niche group of loyal buyers that would make them successful.

Just understand blue color wage workers living paycheck to paycheck with 60% of their check going to rent in America know more about the Jaguar rebrand than Realpage price fixing scandal.

That sentence above alone should explain why this story is being shoved down our throats. Because venture capitalists around the world want that wage worker to be pissed off at "wokeism" rather than be pissed off at wealth class dynamic struggles.

Yes - as the world's richest autistic man spoon feeds it to them on twitter while vaguely alluding to women, young people, people with blue hair and "others" as lesser so that people can avoid feeling empty inside while eating their Big Mac's and ******** on people that are "different" than them.

Good thing LBJ is dead or he would paint it plainly for them on how to keep the masses down by distracting them by telling them that they are better than the immigrant or group being piled on that particular day.

I don't think it saves them either and it seems like a strange way to swing for the fences to stay in business.

I think someone will buy the name, probably after they go under .... on the dirt cheap and try to revitalize the name much like BMW did with Mini some years back.

To sell a product, that product has to appeal to people who can afford it.

If the idea here is to no longer make luxury cars and instead make some subcompact EV Fiat 500 like model, I get the direction, except for the fact that in that case, they need to produce and sell a lot more units to be profitable and that isn't going to occur with a "niche group", you need wide appeal.

If they intend to continue in the luxury market - they need to appeal to those who have the money and that's not the same crowd (for the most part) - regardless of propulsion.

Their problem as a company is not building cars that stack up to their direct competition visually, mechanically or in reliability.

They really need to create a fantastic car or it's curtains for Jaguar under the Tata group.

This reminds me of when HBO came out with a woke Scooby Doo show and didn’t have Scooby Doo in it

    @ROXRAN

the star of the show is the dog
The star of the car commercial should be a car

Reading the first page of this thread gave me a flashback to the not to distant past when Nancy Mace tweeted about transgenders 326 times in 72 hours.

I can tell you exactly what happened at Jaguar for this to come out. Their marketing leader is homosexual and he put out a ridiculous Derek Zoolander teletubby Paris fashion week ad, and the other DEI trained leaders at the company were too afraid to speak up for fear of being labeled anti gay or anti DEI. Never mind the ad was obviously a compete laughingstock, they were too afraid to speak up for fear of their own personal brand within the company.

I’m glad the whole DEI woke BS movement has lost its steam and is now being openly mocked for what it always was - an unproductive joke.
