Most of the Thunder's available FRPs are not great. Besides, think about it from the Buck's perspective -- they cannot tank. They are sending out FRPs for the foreseeable future. As such, there must be a young cornerstone included in the trade. In short, if the Thunder don't add Chet or JDub, I doubt they land Giannis. If they do, I doubt anyone will be able to beat their offer (including us).
If OKC can't get Giannis without adding Chet of JDub, the Rockets can't get Giannis without adding Chet or JDub. On Milwaukie not being able to tank, that is a sunk cost. Whether they win or lose is immaterial. OKC has enough picks, young players that they can pretty much outbid any team provided no team is offering a star.
Huh? I don’t understand your point. Outside of JDub and Chet, they don’t have any “young talent” that rivals Amen, Green, or Eason as the centerpiece of a trade.
Shot looks approximately 1000x better than similar pre-draft workout videos. And, for what it's worth (not much, the sample size is tiny) he has more than doubled his 3P% over last season.
Is he better than Brandon Miller? Miller is already shooting elite at the 3 and Free Throw, but doesn't play nearly the defense as Amen. I'd take Amen but I'm also a 25-year Clutchfans Member. I wonder what non partial fans would say.
Amen had the most hype going into this season as the breakout star, the franchise loves him and believes in him, however the biggest question this year was how does he fit with the best player on the team, Sengun, both being non shooters. A quarter of the way through the season we are starting to gather some data. Best two man rating in the entire league is not a bad place to be. It is a foregone conclusion that he should be starting in place of Jalen.
Then what after the 6-8 games? I'd like to see it too, we just can't bench our 45M PG, so we just wish him injury? No good options this season except Fred and Jalen hit some shots and be consistent.
The last ten games, Amen has averaged 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on great shooting splits: 55.6 FG%, 37.5 3FG%, 74% FT%, 63.6 TS% playing 26.2 mpg. If he can keep those splits up while increasing his volume, the league is done. He should be playing 30+ mpg.
I agree. He really needs to be starting. I don't really care if it's Jalen or Dillon. I just got tired of arguing with the Dillon lovers on the board. If Jalen doesn't improve, I wouldn't mind seeing what Jalen can do off the bench and moving FVV to a spot up shooter role.
Dillon is a fine player. But there's nothing he does that Amen can't provide (except maybe hit 3's at a slightly higher clip)... but there is SO much more Amen can do that Dillon can't.
I have been preaching that since last year. Dillon is playing the best ball of his career, so it makes it hard on Ime to make that move on a vet that has meant a lot to this team. I think the ideal move if Jalen doesn't get it going is to move both Jalen and Dillon to the bench and elevate Amen and Tari. Another way to go would be to move FVV and Dillon to the bench, win with the first team and still have 2 really good defensive guys coming off the bench in FVV and Dillon. I know this is a pipe dream. What I really think is going to happen is about mid-season, Amen will start at SF and Dillon to the bench and that's about it. In the off-season, I predict we except FVV's option and make a minor trade or two. We will basically go into next season with the status quo since we will have been a playoff team and I don't believe Booker will shake loose until after next season.
This is true. Though, I think that Amen might already be better than Brooks (though probably close unless Amen is in the middle of taking another huge step forward). I'm not sure if Amen will replace Brooks or Jalen Green this season. My guess is that Tari will replace JSJ at some point unless JSJ has a huge leap in skill or Tari's cold streak gets worse and much longer.
If we assume the starting lineup should revolve around Sengun being the start, here's what Sengun has performed without the other starters. Sengun no Jalen +26 Sengun no FVV +14 Sengun no Brooks -5 Sengun no Jabari +26 There's really no argument why Brooks of all players should be benched, especially since there are 3 other guys alongside him with much better arguments for this. Sengun's the Rockets franchise player and it's important that he is surrounded by guys who help him succeed. Sengun is currently playing alongside a 30% 3pt chucker and a guy who disappears 8 out of 10 games. If anything he needs to play less alongside such players that are hurting his development.
