Doesn't justify him treating his GF and John Lucas as sand bags.......him treating some people better than others. Him and his sister going off on some strangers in Cleveland.
A few times at SL in Vegas. Nwaba (The guy assigned to keep KPJ out of trouble) was handcuffed to KPJ. Vegas SL with good Houston rookies is possibly the most fun you can have for 3-4 days in Vegas. Watch hoops all day long, play poker all night. Rinse and repeat.
Awesome. I have a much lamer story about Rockets and training camp and the Omni Hotel in Austin years ago
The GF was there at the Omni for a teacher's convention thing at the same time. We shared an elevator with Kelvin Cato (dude was massive) and Tito Maddux. Rudy T and I talked over coffee in the morning. We both agreed how much we loved Otis Thorpe. Then I ate breakfast with some rando 7" from Princeton who was training camp fodder.
KPJ has been getting better after a rough start.....still not all the way back but at least he looks like a rotation player again. DD
KPJ is shooting a surprising 46% and 35% 3's in November. Where he should be. The issues is every other part of his game is bad. He's leading the league in turnover rate. Isnt making free throws, not even getting to line as much, questionable shot selection. Just like in Houston, he's a bad at being a poor man James Harden "combo guard" who should probably stop doing the playmaking "combo" part.
He plays next to Harden and it is light and day, his passes are erratic and his movements are not really fluid. And then his last resort is passing back to Harden ....and sometimes he does so while he is losing his balance. An overdribbler.
KPJ's biggest strength is spot up shooting. But I don't think he will ever unlearn his game in Houston. If he was used from the beginning as a spot up shooter instead of the head honcho, he might turn out to be a good floor spacer. Ironically, Stone-Silas wanted to make him a star but might have unintentionally molded him into a bad role player.
KPJ slowly getting better and better. You love to see young players making progress as the season ratchets up. Tommorow the defending champs
