among the points you mentioned I think the most likely one to happen or the one that still has a good chance of happening is the 3 pt shot. He is practically on year 1 on improving that (I know it sounds like only fan argument) and the improvement is significant. He is not hesitating and the form is much better. He took 27 3s this year, which means the stat has very high variance. I think the stat is misleading for future success. the other thing you have not mentioned is passing, both seeing the right play and executing it. These are traits that make Jokic special. You mentioned missing bunnies and getting blocked. True but he is getting doubled anyway. He has the gravity. Gravity plus passing is huge. So, I think his path to being a superstar goes through keeping up his defense, and improving on the passing and 3 point. That should be enough.
Plus avoiding getting blocked so much. And regaining his touch around the basket...he has been missing some bunnies.
@aelliott "still not a great defender" I guess it must all be the other four guys (including Jalen Green) then.
I am not that worried about those. After all it reflects in his numbers and his true shooting (although bad to start this year) is generally progressing fine. He is also physical, attacks the basket, gets a lot of fouls, puts other players into foul trouble, part of that is getting blocked sometimes. And as you said the touch around basket will come back, not an improvement.
Props to all 5 players and particularly to Ime. Leading the league without the best two defenders in the starting 5 is ridiculous.
I don't understand what this tweet is supposed to mean. Do they want the Rockets to put out an official statement or something?
Most teams give their best player more minutes and touches and do not tolerate that player not getting the ball.
It's not out of the norm for young teams and young bigs. He's getting around the same touches as Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid were getting at this experience level. Also, the Rockets get a lot of fastbreak points and early offense that takeaway touches from the center. There are young players developing around him and he is also still developing. It's not as simple as it is with a 30 yr old big that has a few pet plays and counters that he's been going to for 8 years.
Sengun gonna get a statue built and they're gonna b**** about it being on the wrong block of Toyota Center.
the Rockets' new motto is "Sometimes you, sometimes me, always us." thinly-disguised "it's-not-always-Sengun" motto. reported.
