I’m definitely in the disappointed camp so far. His shooting will be fine but the passivity, weak finishing, and inability to create worry me even though it’s really early.

His defensive reactions seem to be improving, he plays within the team structure and he doesn’t do stupid ****. Hopefully his feel for the offense will improve too over these next 30-40 games.

Darius Garland was literally the worst player in the NBA in his rookie year. Not saying they’re remotely the same type of player, but we have to give Reed a chance! He’s being thrown into the fire and has had to deal with inconsistent minutes, fewer touches, and learning how to run an NBA offense. He will be ok. I have nothing but faith in him

That said, I want him to be more assertive and aggressive on offense. He has already been improving on defense.

His numbers will still go up this season. You will see flashes of brilliance.

The 40 yr old man is the goat and AD is in the MVP rankings.

The compliment to Knecht is he is hitting 46% from 3 on high volume unlike Sheppard.

I agree with you give Reed a chance.

But giving him a chance is different from gassing him up and saying teams are scared of him which the Reedsters are doing.

I agree he is showing improvement and I love it when he has good moments. Its still one thing to say that and another to say he has been playing great currently which posters here are saying.

I agree. But what you are saying is different from gassing him up and glorifying everything about him like posters here are saying.

Just because Reed can still improve doesnt mean you cant complain Knecht and Mcain are outshooting him.

By that logic why are you complaining about Jabari he is still younger than rookie Steve Nash?

Let's face it, no one with a fully functioning brain is worried about a rookie who just put up 5 STOCKS in 16 minutes.

Some of the dumbest members here are trolling because they are upset that a different player has another bad game.... but those people don't matter at all.

Kid, we've been over this, you don't know enough to be talking with grown folk. Head back to the little kids table before you embarrass yourself again.

He's getting regular rotation minutes on one of the best teams in the NBA as a 20 year old. That's not insignificant even if it won't look flashy.

Let it marinate, Udoka isn't playing Sheppard out of the kindness of his heart, he knows there's something there even if he isn't doing much so far.

    Sheppard, Dillon, Amen, Tari, Alpi

    The steals/blocks/defense/rebounding gonna be insane.

I would really want Udoka to use this lineup some extended minutes this season, when it matters.

    He would not be disappointed.

    https://www.nba.com/stats/players/a...24-25&TeamID=1610612745&dir=A&sort=NET_RATING

We've been over this you are the dumbest person here alongside Persian Hoopa.

    Net Rtg Jalen Green 6.7
Net rtg. Reed Sheppard 1.7 lower than Jack Mcveigh and Jeff Green

Whether plus minus or net rating Sheppard isnt that good. go kick rocks

I can understand and see the potential of Sheppard but only a delulu like you will say other teams are scared of Sheppard because of what? His main character energy? His moustache? Theres no rhyme or reason for it other than your cope and delusion.

Yes, this archetype of undersized shooter with playmaking skills, these guys take time to adjust to NBA size.
Moreover, Reed entered the league younger than the other guys. Obviously, it was right decision for him financially, but consider these rookies:

    Steph, 21 yo
    Nash, 22 yo
    Price, 22 yo
    FVV, 22 yo
    Pritchard, 23 yo
    Reed, 20 yo

That's a different version of the metric than the one I was citing.... but at least this time you found a metric with a similar name. Given how little you know about basketball, that's about all we can expect from you.

Let's face it, the reason you are throwing a b****fit in a Reed Sheppard thread is because your guy had another bad game. If he had a good game, you wouldn't be doing this, you'd be trying to gas your guy up.

Now you've had considerably more attention than you deserve and it's past your bed time, so run along.

Can we stop arguing for a bit, and enjoy where we are as a team, and all the great young talent we have?

I think some people might have gotten used to the situation here and lost sight of just how unique it is.

We've had the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 3rd overall picks in consecutive drafts -- and that's to say nothing of the picks that got us Sengun, Tari, and Cam. Every single one of those guys is still on the team competing for minutes. Not to mention it's a good team that's actually trying to win.

It doesn't matter how many guys are worthy of seeing the court, you only get 240 minutes to divvy up at the end of the day. Reed happens to be the last guy to the party, so he's getting relative scraps for now. We'll see how that changes as the roster evolves through trades, injuries, etc.

Point being, Reed's minutes have as much or more to do with circumstance as they do with performance. I guarantee if he went to a typical crappy team like the Wizards, he'd be playing 30 minutes a night. That's literally what they're giving their rookie guard Carlton Carrington right now.

I’m disappointed in his play because how high my expectations were, and no he isn’t playing great, I want him to be more assertive, especially when Fred and Sengun are not on the court, there is no one else that can run the offense and we end up deferring to a Jalen Green iso. Right now Reed is content (or Ime is) on being a play finisher when we need him to be a play initiator.

With that said, what were supposed to be his strengths coming in? Three point shooting, defensive playmaking and passing. Those things are starting to translate. In the last 4 games he is averaging 1.3 steals, 1.3 blocks and 1.5 3s made on 60% 3pt% in 14 mpg. In those 4 games he is averaging per 36 minutes

    14 points 3.8 assists 3.2 steals 3.2 blocks 3.8 3s made

He is starting to flash signs and if he was on a garbage team and actually playing 30 mpg I have no doubt he would be making waves right now.
