That's what supporting Trump requires. All of the conservatives who lost their minds over Bill Clinton getting some consensual BJs in the Oval Office now have to overlook every moral failing from the president-elect and his inner circle in order to justify their support of Trump. There is no personal failing too grave that would force them to do a double-take.

The senators know that their dance with Trump will be over soon, either thanks to biology or term limits. They want to be left standing once the rubble clears.
And not one person is surprised nor do Trump voters care. The truth is if Gaetz hadn't pissed off 99% of the GOP by ruining an entire 2 years of Republicans controlling the House by single handily throwing the leadership into chaos because of a personal beef with McCarthy, he would have sailed by with this nomination because this investigation would have never happened in the first place, and they would have been happy to shush this scandal for him if he was any other Republican who was in Trump's good graces. Republicans and their voters shouldn't get a single ounce of gratitude for sinking this nomination, and if anything most of these nominations should actually go forward because the American people need to actually see what they voted for. Let's not do the whole Trump with pool noodle floats around him to protect everyone from True Unhinged Trump. No... the people voted for him.... let them feel the reality of what voting for Trump actually means.
Trump loves when his sharpest critics in the past now lick his boots. These comments were probably leaked by Trump's inner circle to make Trump happy. He loves this kind of sh$t. It also helps soften the American public to the word "Nazi" or "Facist" being used commonly. He wants to be an autocrat in reality so it's helpful to him for this verbiage to be used willy nilly constantly.
