Really want his averages to reach around 20/11/5. Would be hard to keep him off the All Star ballot then if we’re still doing well.

He needs >20 pts on avg. to make it into All-Star IMO. If he makes it this year, I reckon it'll help with the whistle on both ends of the floor. We need both points + whistles tuning into our favor.

On a side note; loved his comeback after the 2 fouls. Keep giving us the buckets like this.

Updated on/off stats from Cleaning the Glass. Alpi needs to stop bricking some of the easy shots, then his impact will be even better. I'm surprised Amen doesn't look better in this.

So if Dillon, Jabari and Sengun are in....we are getting all of the rebounds.

No, we are preventing the other team from getting offensive rebounds. It's a bit confusing how it's labeled. Basically, Jabari's biggest strength, according to that table, seems to be defensive rebounding.

Yeah I noticed it and edited. Seems like this team will truly take off when Amen and Reed figure it out. Our expectations out of Amen are pretty high for a player that still hasn't played what would be a full NBA season yet.

This highlight clip shows a few nice passes from Jalen to Alpi, and vice versa.

Also shows that Myles Turner might be a good shot blocker, but he can't defend Alpi.

I really hope its higher than this. This wouldn't even be an improvement over last year. If this is where his averages settle in then he's stagnated, which would be disappointing. For me, I'd like to see the assists way way up.

I’m talking about before All Stars are decided in Jan. Perhaps he can get it up closer to 21 / 12 / 6, but that is a pretty massive difference to make up in a short time.

His rebounding, defensive numbers, PIE, and PER are all way up this season.

Fair point actually, I first read your post and thought "we're only 15 games into the season!" but didn't really think about how we do all star voting like 30-40 games into an 82 game season. Voting starts on Dec 19th, which is ~27 games into the season. Kind of weird if you think about it.

Sengun is the best player on the 3rd or 4th best team in a stacked West. If he doesn't make the All Star game then the process is a joke and voting is pretty much all narrative driven.

100% agree. It’s supposed to reward teams that win the Celtics and cavs should have half of the east stars and if you are under 500 you should not be allowed in. I heard they were thinking of making it an all star tournament with 4 teams. I like the idea of having more all stars because there are too many good players but if fvv gets in from pedigree I will be mad.

Remembering when I had to go to the footlocker at Northwest mall to vote for Steve Francis back in 99. Cool story, homes

I think voting starting early doesn't change much because voters will most likely choose the the same guys regardless of the performance or standings. It's a popularity contest. Reserves are chosen much later, and then I think there is enough data for coaches to be objective.

To me, last night, we looked fantastic running the FVV / Amen / Eason / Bar / Sengun lineup. So that got me thinking...could our "core" be...

PG + Amen / Eason / Bari + Sengun? It makes a lot of sense on paper. FVV handling the PG duties until, hopefully, Sheppard takes over. Amen, Eason, and Bari swarming the perimeter. Sengun acting as the offensive hub and locking down the paint.

It made me think about this video from Rusty Buckets, in which he argued the future of the NBA is lineups of PG + 3 wings + center.

Sengun, Fred, Tari and Amen are our best players and it isn’t remotely close. Jabari is rounding back to form and can be that connective role player. If Sheppard can develop to become what we hope he can and supplant Fred eventually then that is the obvious core 5. If he doesn’t pan out then we go allin for Booker with the phx picks and Jalen + Sheppard. The main goal of this season is to identify the core group going forward and it is becoming increasingly clear.

    Sheppard/Amen/Tari/Smith/Sengun
    Or
    Amen/Booker/Tari/Smith/Sengun

Cleaning the glass exlcudes garbage time, which may be affecting Amen's stats negatively here given that he tends to be out there during garbage time. I know for sure that -5 points per possession on offense doesn't jive with anywhere else.
