    Bush Declares Solid Anti-Slavery Position

President George W. Bush chose the backdrop of Washington University to assure undecided voters he was not in favor of bringing back the institution of slavery.

The "town hall" debate between Bush and Senator John Kerry provided the perfect showcase for the President to outline his optimistic plans for the Nation's future.

When asked who he would nominate to the Supreme Court should he have the opportunity, Bush flatly ruled out any judge who might support the 1856 Dred Scott decision declaring Negroes have no rights under the Constitution.

The limitations of a two-minute response gave the President little time for details. But after the televised event, Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman had the opportunity to extol Bush's "Compassionate Conservative" agenda.

"We'd like to make it very clear the President is and always has been a devout abolitionist," Mehlman said. "He is also steadfastly opposed to any Supreme Court appointee who might roll back child labor laws or women's suffrage."

However, when asked Bush's stand on the Salem Witch Trials, Mehlman said the President considered that a matter of State's Rights and would not seek Federal intervention under any circumstances.[/i]

Bush has had 4 years to think about who he would put on the supreme court. hell, he could have named a bunch of names reputed to be on his short list, or blabbed about qualities he seeks, and it wouldn't ahve meant anything to anybody -- it certainly wouldn't cost him votes or the debate.

Instead he comes up with some dogsh-t answer where he demonstrates his horrific grasp of 11th grade history blabbing about dred scott, a case which has pretty much no rlevance to any coherent answer. Lame, lame, lame.

wow! never thought id say this, but i actually have to agree w/ dubbya here.

i think it would be wrong to put pro-slavery justices on the supreme court. im glad to see that dubbya is taking a stand on this issue. it shows real backbone and moral fortitude to stand strong on such a controversial issue as slavery. im sure this will cost him some votes and i admire his courage in taking a stand against slavery.

Dubya has swayed me. I thought that I would vote for Kerry, but after hearing Bush talk about Dred Scott, I am officially a Bush man.

I just wish that we used faulty ink in our elections like the Afghans did. That way, I could vote for Bush 15 times the same way some Afghans voted for Hamid Karzai.
