I've been watching young Giannis/KD clips and I just don't understand how someone like Jabari who is basically the same lanky build at the same height just has zero lift when he tries run in transition. Giannis when he entered the league would try to dunk everything in transition but Jabari just opts for layups that often gets blocked or altered. Jabari seems to not be very athletic at all. He may look the part like other tall lanky stars in their rookie years but he has really poor athleticism in comparison. He struggles with his 3&D role because he can't hit shots consistently, his defense seems to have regressed since his rookie year but if you ask him to fit in a run and dunk offense, he'd be a terrible fit as well. Just last game, Jabari had a play where he was on a smaller guy in the post, but he jumps and takes the shot, it's an air-ball/brick because his jumpshot has no lift.
Indeed, much better than the 4 points 2 rebound game he had 1 whole game ago! He needs to be more consistent before we can anoint him as a good role player.
Jabari's dribble has improved immensely. Still not where it needs to be, but him having confidence in it is a game changer for him. Two 20 point games in the last 4.
There’s a clear difference between passive Jabari and aggressive Jabari. I’be loved Ime since we hired him, but him not empowering Jabari (specifically with mid post touches l) offensively has been the most frustrating part of his tenure thus far
Jabari has crept his way back up the net rating ladder. I'm happy for him. Hopefully he keeps it up. We can have the best 4-man forward rotation in the NBA.
You hit the nail on the head. He needs to run more plays for Jabari especially in the mid post area as you mentioned. I think the dude can get deadly there and down the stretch when we seems to get absolutely terrible end of clock heaves it would be much easier to go to Jabari there in mid post area .. a confident Jabari of course lol
If Jabari and Jalen consistently play well we can compete with any team in the league. Another great game
When Jabari is aggressive on offense, he can do a lot of damage. It also affects his other aspects like rebounding and defense.
I like what Worrell said tonight. We have 7 starters and I'll add on to it, on any given night you have no idea who will be that guy. It is very Boston like, we just don't have that bonafide first team all NBA guy like Tatum but these guys are still young. One of them can become that I hope.
Credit where it's due, very nice game for Jabari tonight. Hit his open shots and took the ball directly to the rim a couple of times, kept it simple and didn't try to do too much. Essentially the blueprint for what he needs to be consistently instead of a couple of times a month. Forgive me if I don't start holding my breath, but it's a start.
My eyes might be deceiving me, but the ball looked like it had slightly more arc out of his hand tonight AND he took a fraction of a second longer on the release from 3. When he plays well we look SO GOOD as a team because it opens the floor for everyone else. LOVED seeing him put the ball on the floor and attack the rim Call me crazy, but I'm starting to feel like I'm rooting for him to make some plays each game now. Even if he only scores 8-14 points in any given game, if he can do it on decent %s, we are going to be tough. Bad games will be there, but if he can string a few good games in a row it will do his fragile confidence wonders.
Boston has clear hierarchy and rules.....Houston has a rudimentary concept that every young guy can sign 30 plus million if they have a hot month like March......that is not what I understand under 7 starters...... Boston already figured out how to pay them and is paying them as we speak. Houston does not have someone like Porzingis, a borderline All Star still as luxury who slides in and out of the lineup. It is a curse and at the same time a good thing when they are on their rookie contracts but not for long. Above all, how old is Worrell, he looks like going 85 or 90 soon.
