Man I hope they offer him the job, but honestly the way the offense has played this year... It will be a while before he gets any job offers.

Amazing what happens when you have ACTUAL threats to throw to and what it does to defensive game planning. Nice to have guys win their matchups off the line and create seperation.

Bonehead flags are still a thing. First play TD scratched hurts, but those plays are there.

Getting Joe Mixon active in the passing game is going to be huge moving forward. Besides his output which speaks for itself, using him as a decoy is under-utilized. Just having him leak out and occupy defenders will be good for CJ to have one less body to account for. He should have had a TD lined up as a wideout if the pass were a little better.

Baby steps. This unit has been on a roller coaster ride most of the year, but Im betting they hit a nice stride to end the season and peak at the perfect time.

If you're talking about the 1st quarter i agree.. Bobby made some excellent calls in that first drive and then you start to see the old Bobby come back...

The second half was nothing like the 1st half... Cowboys made adjustments and Texans did not... Texans defense won that game last night...

It should not be a surprise that we win with defense. Young QB showing young QB warts and a bonafide cowbell in the backfield. Its how you win in the postseason.

Go pull up the play by play on each drive in the 2nd half. Plenty of passing on 1st down. Plenty of CJ Stroud being inaccurate on 1st down too. Not sure what you guys expect from Slowik before this game or beyond without taking the time to apply some context to the lack of skill players and underperforming linemen during the bad stretches.

Last night with Nico back it looked better. There are things the offense can do well with him in the lineup that they were unable to do while he was hurt.

Some new wrinkles with the RBs involved more out of the backfield.

I expect this offense to explode coming out of the bye if they can avoid any more serious injury to their skill players (particularly Joe and Nico).

Im ok with the struggles so far if it means they are going to peak right before the playoffs. The idea that Bobby Slowik is solely to blame for this teams offensive shortcomings is incorrect. That doesnt mean Im a big Slowik guy or whatever I do think the team could do better there, but I can see the forest for the trees. We are not losing games because of Bobby.

I see him as a career OC and would like to have him here. He helped the development with Josh Allen.

Some people are made for HC and some coordinators.
    Daboll is a great OC

He got the job in part because they couldn't find anyone better that was interested at the time. It sure did not seem at the time that he was likely to be anything other than a place holder until someone better was available. He had worked with DeMeco for a few years, and had worked his way up the Shannahan system up to passing game coordinator. However - he had never called plays, and he was also not the primary person working with the QB - as that was Shannahan.

Then last year Stroud shinned as a rookie - and it seemed that everyone forgot the past coaching career of Slowick before 2023. He was a low level coach for Shannahan Sr., then was not retained after Shannahan was fired. He was out of coaching for a number of years working for PFF where he mostly graded defensive play. He gets another shot as a low level coach when Shannahan's son gets the Niners job - he is hired to work with defense, there is an opening on the offensive side and he slides over there. The Niners have success and the offensive coaches leave for bigger jobs at other organizations and Slowik moves up.

I am not in the organization - I am not an NFL football coach - but at the time of the hire, it seemed like it was a short term thing. No play calling history at all, and was one of the last men standing in SF so DeMeco took him with him. Couple that with comments that have been made by Simms, Warner .... even a prominent High School head coach I know - and it really seems to me that Slowik is just above his pay grade.

They have to replace him next year - perhaps down the road Slowik will prove to be very good, but he either isn't a good OC or he isn't ready and in either case the Texans need someone that is capable and ready.

No bad blood for Slowik, I believe he is trying - and I believe he is a good guy - but what Slowik wants to run doesn't fit the line, and he just isn't good enough.

    Totally agree.

I think Kliff Kingsbury is that too. He hasn’t been great but he’s done well enough for Jayden Daniels to be in MVP conversations.

For a 2nd year playcaller, he still has loads to improve on like when to do what. I don't see him leaving.

I can't hold him responsible for signing and drafting some of these Linemen that have no scrappyness to them. Nick is new to the Kubehan system so let bygones be bygones with the Green pick.
Biggest issues has been 30% player makers out with injuries and 60% clueless blocking, which has led to Stroud playing more like Trevor Lawrence lately.
the other 10% is Slowik learning what works and trying to please. It will be another 10 years before he dials up a wildcat pass with Stroud as the only option at wr. still not over it.

This is why I wanted Kliff Kingsbury... Would have been perfect Offensive Head Coach to go with Demeco Defensive HC.

Bobby needs a mentor and others have stated this... At times he has shown that he has potential, but he needed about 2 or 3 more years of learning the system.

I agree he's not a tier 1 coordinator, but he's not the only guy to blame for the offense being substandard. How long did DeMeco keep trotting out Kenyon Green? Was that a Caserio edict as being "his guy" and not wanting to look foolish for blowing a 1st round pick? That alone caused more ripples than anything else.

Lots of things to critique, but we're 7-4 and in 2 weeks if everything goes right we'll be division champs.

    You’re right. Realistically it’s a “good season”
I think the preseason hype set people up for disappointment. Talked about the being a super team, I think we’re a year away from that as long as CJ takes the next step

I agree with this... A TEAM wins or loses together....

But as I stated in another post, Bobby needs a mentor....

Right now he he has to find away to get CJ confidence back, you can see he's not comfortable like he was last year....
