Jalen cannot be traded this season. Maybe next year. But I don't want Lillard, and they have nothing else.

Correct. What he needs is consistency, which is at the heart of what you just said.

He's our RJ Barrett. The sooner we get rid of him, the better for us.

it's a shame Jalen's trade value is soo low right now-- low 'effeciency', low usage, low number of years he's locked-up in his contract [teams would understandably prefer someone with longer years on a not-so-maxxed contract yet-a-max potential player and significantly featured on a right-now winning team]

both Jalen and Cam would be stuck here in Houston for a long time if their situation right now continues like this

no team would want them [unless the Rockets secretly loves both and stealth-tanking their values so no team demands for them in trades--]

they should be 'featured more, played more, pad and enhance stats/individual accolades more and not talk ill about them-

poor Ime, has to prop-up players, make plays he doesn't like just for a player, making sure a player plays on the last minutes so the players' cult wont eat him/Rockets management alive in social media... just for the Rockets to be able to take part in trade talks and have a chance to land a vet star because only few are filling up the stands/watching the Rockets or paying attention to them... even with all the young studs they have...sigh

I want Ime to coach to win games and not coddle players. Just win. Ime seems pretty good at that so far. Mostly because that’s what he wants too…because he’s wired that way more than a lot of others.

We’ve had YEARS of codling. It’s enough already. If Jalen gets with the program, great! If not, the team is doing pretty well regardless.

    What even is this?

Jalen’s contract is a tough move just based on the structure of it. He plays well, he opts out of his last year. He doesn’t play well, he opts in. It’s great for him but not the team he’s on. Cam is young and cheap on a team friendly rookie scale deal. Totally different situation.

I don’t even know where to begin to breakdown the second part of whatever you’re talking about.

We’ve had way worse than Jalen OFs …we had Yao! And Lin!! :)

Just play what works. If the numbers tell you you’re better without him, then move on! I’m old af and I’ll be here long after all of the dudes on our roster are gone….as long as I exercise regularly and take my BP meds! :)

We had a five game stretch where Green was the most impactful player on the roster and Sengun and Fred were the worst impactful players and a 8 game stretch where Green had the worst impact and Fred and Sengun had the best impact.

That is the state of the season so far.

RJ struggles to create his own offense but is a great play finisher. He thrives when he plays with good facilitators i.e. Scottie Barnes. Knicks did not have that while he was there. At the end of last season he played like a star alongside Scottie who was creating good looks for him.

Who would we want from Milwaukee for Jalen if it's not Giannis?

Hard to team them up since neither of them can shoot.

With Giannis you really need to surround him with shooters, so you can't really have a non shooting SG next to him without problems.

I don't think Giannis would be a very good fit here no matter what but if you had Giannis, Jalen, and Amen together on the court at any point out would be a spacing catastrophe.

Totally fair…I’m not out on Green. I’m just in on the Rockets and tired of the OF stuff. Let’s get a W tonight…Texans too :)

Actually he can be traded this season and the math isn't terribly difficult to achieve.

I showed an example in another thread - here's the link (I don't know how to show the image)

Now the bad news: Houston’s decision to extend Jalen Green earlier in the day was among the more befuddling contracts I’ve seen in a while. I think this deal has very few routes toward being a positive value for the Rockets. I informally polled four front-office executives regarding the deal just to see if they were on the same page, and there was a general sense of confusion regarding why the Rockets chose to do this deal now. Two of those executives simply didn’t rate Green all that highly as a player and wouldn’t have been interested in extending his contract right now. That’s fair enough given his play thus far. Those executives may turn out right, or they may turn out wrong. But even the other two who were willing to think more deeply about Houston’s plan still came away questioning the structure of the contract. -via New York Times / October 24, 2024

I was wondering if Jalen is a better prospect than Mathurin, Jaden Ivey or Shaedon Sharpe... What do you think?

He's obviously a better player, but I wouldn't do it because I think we can opt for someone even better at that role.

The only way that is a good deal for the team is if Jalen turned into a superstar which I just do not see happening. Stone had the perfect opportunity to let Jalen's play set his market value. Even if another team offered him much more than he was/is worth in RFA in no way should that force Stone to offer more than he is worth. It would be better to lose him for nothing than overpay him with the talent we have on this roster set to get paid in the coming years. I am sure Jalen will go on one of his super good stretches sometime later this year, likely just after the ASB if history repeats itself, and there will be some spouting how good his contract is conveniently forgetting that his biggest issue is consistency. Thankfully there are signs he is maturing by finally slow down on the useless chunking when he is off which is a positive sign but still does not make him worth what we committed to him.
