The split squat is the one they talk about a lot. I like it but it's not for everyone. You can hear my knees crackle from 10' away but they are good. I try to do some type of squatting everyday and most days are just body weight.
I'm honestly not a follower of his and have only watched a couple of his videos. This seems to be what he's known for. I was turned on to him by an older really fit guy at the gym, whom I respect, and I think @Xerobull (who could also probably run circles around me) has shared some of his videos. My lower body is honestly garbage.
Hey! I give those to my 11 year old Labradoodle. I didn't realize they are also beneficial for humans. Of course, that's if B-Bob is human.
I used to play sports in college and power lift without braces or even a squat belt for a long time, but those days are gone, lol. Still have healthy joints due to stretching, joint supplements, etc. But I do have a knee sleeve and ankle support when training or doing cardio, as I was told you train the muscles, not the joints to be proactive. Don't really need to lift weights anymore but am more focused on diet, flexibility, cardio, and rebuilding myself for longevity vs sports.
Not lately. Had hernia surgery in July, slowly recovering but it’s been slow. Sucks to lose muscle you worked so hard for and put on fat. Can’t bounce back like we used to.
Knees over toes guy has some excellent workouts to strengthen your VMO muscle of the quad and general leg strength. https://www.instagram.com/kneesover..._web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== I've had 4 knee surgeries which comprise of a couple scopes and 2 ACL reconstructions and microfracture. I had all that done before I started doing brazilian jiujitsu when I was in my early 30s and now I'm 44 and still doing it with minimal knee issues. You absolutely must work on strengthening your VMO muscle. It's not about doing a ton of weight to strengthen it but it's more about developing the coordination among all of your leg muscles. It doesn't take an excessive amount of time to work on it either. Maybe 15 minutes every other day for some pretty significant benefits. Various stretches can help too depending on what is specifically bothering you. Also, I used to think I could never really run again but I've been able to build up to 5 miles even on my debilitated right leg. I had to change my running stance and posture and eventually the soreness in my knee faded. It isn't something I can do all the time but it's nice to be able to go for a jog. Start slow and build up. And I just realized you said pain on the side of the knee cap and to me that's another indicator of needing to strengthen the VMO. This isn't indicative of a meniscus tear but it can be chondromalacia which is treatable through rehab. When the quad muscle and other leg muscles are out of coordination then you can have certain muscles dominating and they physically can pull your kneecap to one side when you are exercising and that causes irritation. Additionally you will have soreness if you haven't done any significant exercise for years. Try to start slow and build up. It can take a bit to knock off the rust. I've been there. And ice after you exercise. Ibuprofen is helpful too. Lastly, I've learned if I can do a little bit of exercise/moving around then it generally helps my injuries and soreness heal faster. And here's an old guy for inspiration....I expect you to have an IG channel like his within the next 12 months! Spoiler

How do you oil an emu? Do you crush them in a press like olives? I cant imagine they'd like that too much.
One good thing about BJJ is it’s a lot easier in your knees than Judo. I have several friends who transitioned from Judo to BJJ full time because they feel they can do that including being competitive in it than Judo. A few years ago I got to train with Pat Worley who is a major figure in Karate but has transitioned full time to BJJ now in his 70’s. I’m not afraid to admit it but he tapped me out when I rolled with him even though I’m more than 20 years younger.
They hunt, harpoon and then render them down like they did whales. In Northern Australia there are tales of how many brave men were lost on the hunt for the great white emu, Bogan Dick.
I'm pretty comfortable with leg attacks so that helps me deal with the biggest risk to my knees in jiujitsu. That said I don't have an ACL anymore and I realized that about a year ago when we were doing some practice with heel hooks and I was thinking "hmmm my knee is really moving around a lot...." and then I realized oh my ACL is officially gone again lol. If a reconstructed ACL tears then you don't know because it has no pain receptors. It hasn't really caused me any problems and I've only had some small knee issues along the way. I don't have an adductor on my right side anymore either from back when I was a white belt. I collar dragged someone from open guard and he knee cut and his shin landed right on my adductor and cut it off the bone. That was really painful. So all that combines with my Frankenstein right leg yet somehow I have avoided knee replacement surgery. My knee doctor in my early 30s told me 100% chance I would need it by the time I was 40. Getting more skilled has definitely helped my longevity.
