I’m not in favor of paying a king’s ransom for a 30yr old Giannis. Our window is just now finally opening. Gutting our roster and adding Giannis starts the window in the opposite direction, in my opinion. We’ll be tanking again w/in 3yrs. I’m open to making a significant trade or two for key players, but this isn’t the one at the likely cost.
Leave the "trading for aging players" to other teams with short "win now" windows. I know we aren't necessarily a championship contender today but we are a competitive team at very least for the next decade. Why would we sacrifice that in order to give us a two or 3 year window to learn the hard lessons that most have already demonstrated - father time is particularly brutal to those guys who dominated with athleticism and not skill. I would rather compete for the next 10 years and not win than be back in the lotto in 4 years when it doesn't work out with aging Giannis.
Forget Giannis. Weirdly enough, I've actually come around to the idea that the guy might actually be... Kevin Durant. - We wouldn't have to give up any of our best young players for KD. You could absolutely see a package of some combo of Jabari / Cam / PHX picks / contract filler for KD, if PHX rebuilds. - We wouldn't be going all in for the present. You'd be looking to compete for a title with KD + our young core for 2-3 years, then still be fully loaded with our homegrown core and our own picks for the next era - KD has good reason to want to come here. He's got a well known relationship with Ime, and Royal Ivey and KD are best friends. - KD is an infinitely better fit basketball wise than Giannis. Like, KD at the 4 is exactly the type of superstar player that fits with our best young players. Shooting, supplemental rim protection, go-to crunchtime guy, team first player without a big ego. - Yes Giannis is 6 years younger. But am I excited to see how Giannis' game ages? No. Meanwhile KD is aging unbelievably. KD is 4 years younger than LeBron, who's still going strong. - Sengun/Durant/Amen/Tari on the floor together... I was against it last summer. Now? I see the vision.
I am on team Durant, if he is available. Shooters win rings. Devin Booker is the real prize, in my opinion.
There actually is a 30-year-old I would trade Sengun, Jalen, Jabari, and 3-4 FRPs for... 30-year-old Hakeem Olajuwon But the laws of time and space prohibit that from being an option.* * At least as far as we humans experience them.
Jokic will be 30 in a few months and we would trade that for him in a heartbeat, though denver would obviously laugh at that offer
He'll be 31 when he starts for us besides we don't need another non-shooter superstar or not. Get me Lauri Markkanen.
Jabari Smith, Cam Whitmore Phoenix Picks traded back to Phoenix, Dillon Brooks Salary traded to a 3rd Team. PG Fred VanVleet, Reed Sheppard, Aaron Holiday SG Jalen Green SF/ SG/ PG Devin Booker, Amen Thompson PF Tari Eason C Alperen Sengun
Harden was right. Giannis is just big and runs over people. He is the least skilled impactful star player.
How many times have big in season trades predicted by the media ever happened like this, the odds ought to be very low.
As long as Giannis is an elite athlete he can make up for not being a great shooter, but his game could fall off a cliff once he loses a step or 2.
I like the idea in theory but once more you can't afford Lauri Markkanen on this team without saying who has to go because Lauri prevents you from making big commitments to guys like Amen and Tari. He is a max guy but doesn't produce enough for a max guy if you only get two max slots AND he is going to cost you to get him from Utah in addition to the financial pickle he puts Houston in once he is here....so the real question is how much are you REALLY willing to let go of for Lauri?
Agree with the first 3 and so do the Rockets (reportedly). Sheppard is far from untouchable, but has no real trade value yet.
