I like the idea of moving on from Brooks & Tate but I don't really like that particular deal - bringing in Middleton who probably isn't a long term piece with the possibility of being UFA at seasons end and likely wanting a multi year deal higher than the $34m that is his player option .... Brooks, Tate and a #1 pick just seems like a huge overpay and it really doesn't solve the issue of the logjam at the 3 when Middleton expects to start? I'd prefer to flip Brooks and Tate for a solid 4 that can shoot & defend to challenge Jabari for minutes while opening up minutes at the 3 spot for Amen, Tari & Cam. I've mentioned moving both Brooks & Tate before: Tate will be a UFA at seasons end and I can't see him resigning just to sit on the bench again, he would play a good amount of minutes on many teams - just not this one trying to develop so many young guys at so many positions. May as well get something for him before he expires. Brooks has served his purpose and needs to be moved to free up those minutes too ....
The trade linked below is not one I support - just showing how to make the numbers work ... (click the link) NBA Trade Checker - Saved Trade - RealGM I don't know how to post the trade image here .... sorry.
This would be incredible! If LaMelo starts getting upset about how competitive Charlotte are then get it done. LaMelo, Tari, Amen and Sengun would be awesome. I would trade anyone else for him and all the picks required.
I could see the Blazers trading us Jerami Grant for Jabari, a 1st round pick, and filler (Tate, Jeff Green). PG: VanVleet / Sheppard / Holiday SG: Green / Whitmore SF: Brooks / Thompson PF: Grant / Eason C: Sengun / Adams / Landale Jerami is an Ime kind of defender who, unlike Jabari, can actually hit 3s.
I was on the trade brooks because he’s blocking Tari and Amen train this offseason, but I’ve been so impressed with Brooks’ play. For example, he has cut his turnovers in half playing the same min as last year; half! That’s one of the most frustrating things about Dillon, he’s a bad passer and turns the ball over too much. But not so far this year. Also his efficiency is up. He’s shooting almost 38% from 3. And I’ve also notice he’s defending at the top of his game. I’m not saying this is sustainable, but the more other guys emerge Dillon forces things less, and he’s a really good player when he’s not forcing shots or trying to take over. Honestly I think we are a better team with Dillon than Bari and I think Dillon, Tari and Amen are giving this team the edge it needs. bari is being phased out, let’s recoup some value, and give him a fresh start somewhere else. We should be able to get a very good asset of some kind for Bari and Tate.
I was saying he doesn't make everyone an instant contender. On a talented but poorly constructed team like the Bucks, he loses. As for us, if you start him with Amen and Sengun we won't even win 45 games. I believe he can make us contenders in these lineups: Giannis Jabari Amen Green FVV Sengun (assuming slow improvement in 3PT%) Giannis Tari Green FVV
3 team trade: HOU - TOR - BRK BRK: Brown (TOR) + 2026 IND FRP via TOR (lottery protected) + BRK 2027 swap rights TOR: Brooks (HOU) + Tate (HOU) HOU: Cam Johnson (BRK) would probably send Cam (Whitmore) instead of those swap rights & don't have to necessarily include Tate I could also envision a different version where BRK really tries to free up cap space for 2025 (to spend on who tho) BRK: Brown (TOR) + Tate (HOU) + Mitchell (TOR) + 2026 IND FRP (via TOR) + BRK 2027 swap rights TOR: Brooks (HOU) + Finney-Smith (BRK) + Landale (HOU) + 2026 SRP via HOU HOU: Cam Johnson (BRK) + Boucher (TOR)
Dillon brooks, Tate, 2025 frp for Herro, jokic. Herro off the bench to relieve FVV or Green when their shot isn’t falling. Solves the logjam at SF and adds a consistently excellent 3 pt shooter. He can backup both guard positions. He is not a good defensive player but gives Reed a chance to adjust to the league while we inch closer to playoff contenders. Drawback is he is 9M more against the cap for the next 2 years and hurts defensive depth.
Yeah probably. Think two would do it, but then you start thinking whether it would be worth it to the Rockets.
I am extremely leary of this trade. I do not want to blow up our roster to get Giannis. Picks and swaps yes Any vet combination yes 1 young player The above probably not possible without adding in a 3 team.
I assumed Sengun or green would have to go but not sure how that even works with their poison pill contracts
If it happened at the deadline, I’m guessing it would be an Amen-centered package. Something like Brooks, Amen, Bari, and a million picks for Giannis. I’m quite skeptical, by FVV / Green / Eason / Giannis / Sengun is intriguing.
Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson for Fred VanVleet, Jabari Smith Jr., Cam Whitmore and a top-five protected 2031 first-round pick.” “Losing in the 2024 first round, (Jimmy) Butler not signing an extension this past summer and the Heat getting off to a slow start all suggest a possible trade, and the Houston Rockets may be the perfect landing spot for (Butler),” Bailey said. “Houston has a contract that almost seems to be designed to be traded attached to Fred VanVleet. He's making $42.8 million this season (an inflated number for his level of production), which makes him an obvious salary-matcher.” “The Rockets also have multiple young players and/or prospects to make whatever the next era of Miami basketball is more intriguing.” “Jabari Smith Jr. and Cam Whitmore both have the kind of three-and-D potential that Erik Spoelstra can mold into helpful players. A first-round pick would be a good get for a team that's spent a lot of capital in recent years.”
Ok, I am gonna start a Kerfuffle, but I believe this will make the team better NOW, and in the future. Let's trade Jalen Green for Zack Lavine.......and a future FRP from Chicago. People say his contract is almost untradeable, he has 2 more years after this, same as Jalen.....but for 10m more a year, which isn't nothing but it is not deal breaking. Why would the Rockets do it? Lavine is better than Green in every single way, and his shooting is elite. Lavine is shooting for the year. 51% FG 41% 3pt His career is 47%Fg 38% 3pt shooting. 29 years old 6'5" so he is bigger and just as athletic as Jalen... We don't need him to be a star here, just hit open 3pt shots and drive in when he can....he also averages 4 assists a game for his career too. Now yes, he is only a small upgrade, and he is 6 years older, but....we can get an additional FRP from Chicago to take on his contract. It makes the Rockets better for the next 3 years - we finally have a consistent 3pt threat, and he only has to play the team player role here in Houston. And we can get a future FRP from Chicago which might be lottery. Thoughts? DD
