All it takes are couple healthy seasons like last one when he played 80 plus games. And the media would not be concerned. Of course any big men are prone to injuries, that is NBA 101.
You are right big men become healthier as they age so those multiple 80 game seasons are definitely on the horizon.
It's not really surprising to me given Chet's physique. Dude really needs to put on some muscle on to help absorb the contact or he'll just keep breaking after every more significant contact. Both him and Wemby are in the same category really. Although Wemby does look like he's slowly getting stronger. Chet not so much.
Second odd/ serious bone fracture on that thin frame -- you have to draft Chet if he falls to you, but this is the risk and it's only going to increase with age. He's never going to be a guy that can add significant mass -- even if he did it would probably ruin his game.
Chet I don't mind passing on purely on health history for guys his size and build. I still wish we had gotten Banchero though.
Ralph was the original unicorn so athletic/ coordinated for 7' 4" -- he also gave us several great seasons before falling apart. Same with Yao and his feet -- Chet worries me more with these fractures. He's worked hard too -- he's ripped compared to his rookie season so it's definitely not a Zion situation.
I am not totally sold on Banchero. Orlando seems to play well without him. And we couldn't get him anyway. I wish we picked Jalen Williams. If Stone had a crystal ball, we could have this starting lineup: Sengun Mobley Williams Thompson VanVleet Bench: Eason Brooks Good enough to go deep in the playoffs.
Please no Van Vleet, Jalen Williams deserved to play with Combo PG Shai Gilgeous....he deserved it to play with Chet Holmgren. It worked out. It is a thing of beauty, don't be selfish, try to be happy for that guy for once!
My opinion is some people like Chet or Zion you know they won't last long before injury bug hits. Either you draft the next best guy or you trade that pick.
We wouldnt get Amen if you started 2021 with Sengun and Mobley. Then followed it up with JDub and Eason.
