Unfortunately I think GSW has the best bench in the NBA this year.

They hit on multiple good vets for cheap Buddy Hield, GP2, LW3. This combined with Podz, Looney etc give them the most depth IMO.

Rox are a pretty close second imo Amen, Tari and Jock give the Rox 8 starters basically and we still have Sheppard, Adams and Cam in the back pocket. Once these 3 start getting better Rox should have the no 1 bench.

Most of the guys on Warriors bench can shoot which fits their system but not much else. Hield was a great pickup I agree that can drive and shoot. GP2 declined a bit and found the Cam Whitmore bug of not being able to shoot 3’s. I think OKC is the deepest team in the league

Who on OKC’s bench is anywhere near as good as Tari and Amen? Maybe they are “deeper” just based on the raw number of bodies, but no team as a better first 1-2 off the bench than Amen and Tari.

I hope this was sarcasm because if not it goes into the hall of fame of worst opinions stated on here.

I agree as I mentioned has 2 lockdown defenders that can create a lot of TO’s per game and fast break opps. Also can dribble drive and create positive offense. I was speaking overall depth and quality and OKC has 3-4 guys that can both defend and shoot and play their role well

nah Tate is leading the cheerleaders off the bench. He's the biggest hypeman we have right now.

Exactly. The rockets picked up his $7.5MM contract knowing he wasn't going to be in the rotation. Honestly, his whole $21MM deal was signed just to keep him around as a good locker room guy and hard worker.

I'm a little curious tobsee what happens to him and all the other inflated contracts we've been carrying around this offseason now that we don't need cap space anymore. Will he get another big deal as a filler contract that we never use?

Inflated contract? Tate is a very serviceable guy off the bench. He can play in anybody's rotation in the nba

Yea, well, he can't play in ours

And, I like Tate. I think his best role is on a top heavy superstar centric team where his hustle really stands out.

He just won't play much here. He's behind Holiday and Cam who also aren't in the rotation. If we draft another guy this year, he'll probably be behind him as well.

Nice trade bait, too, for teams that are scanning other teams’ benches for hidden gems — he’s not playing there, but he could be helping us here. Like some of those top- heavy teams. It’s so nice after the past few years that the Rockets are in a position to have those kinds of players instead of being the team hunting for them.

The question was “one of the best”. Clearly the answer to that is yes. We do have a weakness with little to no shooting off the bench after Tari. Sheppard might get there someday. I’m guessing Stone makes some type of low risk trade for an expiring vet that can shoot.

We have Tari, Holiday and eventually Whitmore and Sheppard will catch on too. Would be nice to get an excellent shooter but I have little faith that Udoka will play him given his current rotation patterns. Unless that guy can play defense too, in which case we can't really afford it off the bench.

It’s just according to how patient Stone will be if Sheppard and Cam continue to struggle. I suggested a trade for Herro in the random trade thread, but he would not qualify as an ideal Ime guard. Of course right now, Cam, Sheppard, and Holiday are no great shakes in that department either. Duncan wouldn’t be a bad get, because he would be easier to get than Herro, but man he has never really impressed at anything other than shooting.

Yes he can. We're going young & he's the odd man out. If injuries happen we won't be miss a beat
