It's great that Kansas pulled this off. Now BYU must beat both Arizona State next week and win the Big 12 title game to make the CFP. IMO, ASU will smack them down next week and end their hopes.
The Big12 is madness, but it's a great basketball conference! There's a very good chance that the Big12 Champ does not make the football playoff/postseason.
Is SMU having a fluke good season or is the NIL era going to be where they thrive because of all the money they have lying around?
They're good, they've been pretty good for a while. It's down to SMU, Miami and Clemson for the ACC Championship Game.
For the BIG12 - I don't think BYU is THAT bad to be honest. They could beat Colorado. Kansas is also not that bad, they have talent. Glad BYU lost though. Baylor legitimately has gotten better as the season has gone on. They need to trust the process and keep Aranda, their idea is to pay PLAYERS not coaches (and it's a smart one). This is not SEC bias. Seriously. The conference is stacked (thanks in part to UT). South Carolina would win the Big 12 easy. Possibly the ACC.
The Big12 is chock full of teams that could/should be ranked 15-30, as opposed to their hoops, where a whole bunch of teams could be ranked 1-20
Yeah, B12 hoops is legit. Which is cool. But doesn't pay the bills. $$$ And they have terrible arena names - Fertitta Center? **** you
Would anyone bet on a Big 10 teams against Georgia? I guess that is why there are 12 teams in the playoff. We will see if the Big 10 is actually as good as the rankings say they are.
I think it's the latter. SMU was good back when money was running rampant. Remember when they had Craig and Dickerson in the backfield?
They're 27-10 over the past 3 years under this coach. Remember when AtM gave Dickerson a trans-am and he drove it to Dallas?
Let's not pretend money hasn't contributed. I think it's part of the reason why Saban retired. He sees the writing on the wall. Alabama doesn't have the money to compete long-term against Texas, ATM, Ohio State, Michigan, ND and all the other schools that have billionaire allumni. Even LSU and Oklahoma will eventually get their act together with all that oil money. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41136586/smu-football-acc-death-penalty-return-2024
Alabama has a stupid amount of money, just like the other big boys SMU may have greased their way into the ACC a bit, but it's not like they were a total outlier. Hell, they let Stanford and Cal in.
