Of course I know the need of three point shooting. Jalen just sucks at it. We need to get a real shooter. I know amen can't shoot all I said was even if he was a 40% shooter he would never settle for 9 threes a game cus he plays smarter than Jalen and can actually create shots for other players.
You need to go back and read the other messages. We've already discussed this in detail. Jalen catch and shoot threes include his dribble hand offs. He's a much better shooter on the move than when he's not. That's the troubling part. His shot isn't repeatable /'d he'll never be a great shooter,
We need our other players to shoot better or closer to their %s of last year... To increase spacing... ie FVV and Jabari.... Right now we need his 3pt output and he's absolutely shown improvement. Amen is a better finisher and passer, but due to his mediocre handle he's still more of a play finisher off cuts and in transition... And that's what he'll likely continue to be... At best he's a connector on offense. Jalen is more likely to create quality offense for Amen and the rest of the team than Amen is to create offense for Jalen... Particularly in half court situations. It doesn't matter if it's counted DHOs... There's plenty of non dribble handoffs in there if not most of them. He's shown significant improvement as a 3pt shooter if you go into the details and factor volume with efficiency.
Folks btching about green efficiency when we are 8-4, 3 game win streak. Green isn't chucking us out of games like the previous season and is actually contributing to us winning in other parts of the game. "But man needs to shoot efficiency or I'm not happy." I’ve been a Green fan since day 1 and try to assess his game accurately. He sucked tonight and he’s starting to look like the inconsistent Green we’ve seen thus far again. Abandoning what was working early and reverting to something more like hero ball and less within the flow of the offense. I was convinced he was turning the corner but he’s looking like he is what he is. A microwave scorer who just doesn’t shoot it consistently enough to be a superstar. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve defended him enough. The fact that there’s this much drama b/w Rockets fans over him is telling enough. Again, I hope he makes me eat my words. But it is what it is.
I could say a lot of bad stuff but I’ll lean in and say I love that he’s clearly working hard to be a better defender. He is not and will not be Numero Uno or whatever that’s about. Inconsistency is a feature not a bug. But this is a fun team to watch as a rocket fan and he’s a part of that. I’m good with that. I’m not the GM.
The three consecutive 3pt makes in the first quarter last game got in his head. Now he just wants to jack up shots, forgetting how to play proper offense.
