It’s 3rd for Tari and same for the other 2 in defensive rating per 100 possessions. And that is among some elite company.

Amen is far and away the best defender on the team whether it's defending the ball or helping out.
Tari is #2 (IMO, in a class by himself below Amen and above the others).
DB is #3. I'm sorry you haters won't ever admit this but who gives a care.
Alpi isn't really close to those guys, particularly when it comes to versatility, switching and pure intensity.

You don’t have a top 5 defense without the C screaming out coverages all damn game.

Very curious to see If Alperen can maintain this level.

    Amen/Tari are god tier defenders.

List surprises. Jokic is #3, without any other starting teammate until in the 140's.
James Harden is #25, no teammate until the 70's. Harden is an Ime culture player on D :D

All Defensive 1st Team Tari Eason and Amen Thompson

Hopefully they get their Numbers Up, because Defensive Awards are given by Offensive Numbers, same as the Gold Glove Award in Baseball.

I think what could work against them is minutes played. What's good is Tari is ~25 mpg and Amen is almost 30 mpg the last 6-7 games. The trend should continue.

It would also help if the Rockets finish with 50+ wins and near the top in key defensive categories.

Not trying to be a wet blanket, but is 12 games really enough to draw more than the most broad conclusions?

Tari was 2.0 last year and -.4 the year before. Good for him if he keeps it up for 82 games. Not going to say he can't, but I wonder if it's a little early to assume he will. Alpi was 1.7 last year and .4 the year before.

12 games in an 82 game season is a hard number to divide as a fraction (1/2 of 82 is 41, which is a prime number) - but it's just a little more than 1/7th of the season.

Also, regarding Jokic, he was at 4.2 last year for the season and 4.5 for the two years previous. Based on recent history he is that good, if not a lot better in the eyes of that stat.

I will give you this, obviously we haven’t played all teams and Amen & Tari’s defense is at least partially reliant on energy. They might not sustain that level all year, but at the same time can since they’re young.

What could be the case though is because they are playing together a lot, that their numbers are skewed a bit. It also does not take into account the level of competition. Then again, both are being recognised nationwide, particularly Amen’s defense on Brunson and now Harden surely will make the rounds.

Teams will adjust so that’s another thing why maintaining the level might be tough, but I believe what I see and that is Amen is elite, Tari is great and Sengun is really good at positioning himself, going straight up and being a rim protector even with his lack of size and athleticism.

Of course. Context is always required.

That said, hopefully a sign of growth. Seems like our young guys are getting better.
