This would definitely be the most enjoyable outcome. It's always more fun when the team is home grown, I would love to see this come true. The idea of trading away these players that we all love for some rental of a disgruntled superstar kinda sucks.
I was expecting another leap on offense this year. Instead, Alpi seems to be taking a leap on the defensive side. About to become well rounded player rather than the offensive super power. Couple of things to consider when judging his offensive production so far. Added strength is likely messing with his muscle memory. Hoping for a recovery on FG% as the season goes on. Rockets’ identity is defense. He’s spending quite the energy on that end. Rest of the team can’t punish the opposition when they load up on Alpi. It doesn’t help when you’re trying to showcase your offensive skills. This also have a negative affect on Jalen. Alpi’s offense is the question mark whether he can be a superstar or not. Gimme ~27-30 pts. Avg. on your prime. Maybe Ime didn’t use Embid reference for nothing. IMO, he still has a chance of getting there. Offensive leaps will be needed though.
I agree but I include Green. He will be fine. He is still in efficient, but you can see some improvement and he is playing harder all around on the court. I think if he was resting more (like many scorers do) His efficiency would be up. Sengun Eason Thompson Green/Whitmore Sheppard That’s Who I see starting a year or two down the line when we are threatening for the finals. If Adams can get back in good physical shape, I am fine with extending him for three years and using him as the back up center. Frankly, I’d keep Jock also And just be very deep at center.
There are more than 4 playoff series. Tatum was the best player in the East that was healthy last playoffs. He beat the next two best players healthy players in the East. Jokic lost, but he took out Lebron and AD. SGA and Luka are basically about equivalent for 2nd best West player. Luka wasn't beat in the West. It took Luka to beat SGA. Luka took out whoever is viewed as best on the TWolves. Maybe there is a first round series or two I'm missing, but it looks like the best player in a series was either hurt, won, or covered by the two exceptions you listed (three if SGA is viewed as better than Luka).
The same for Jabari and Reed. Hopefully the strength and conditioning coach doesn't have them doing any heavy lifting weights during the season. They should stop at least a couple weeks before.
