Jabari has improved in his ability to hold ground and fight for boards, and he has the will to be a tough defender (even if his reaction times is somewhat shockingly slow, especially as a help defender). While he is struggling with the mental part of the game, I think physically, he's had some challenges, too. Fewer minutes would probably help him in the long run. I think he can contribute to winning, but he does need to abandon the idea that he can help space the floor by knocking down 3s. That is not working. At least half the time, Jabari should flash to the basket and fight for boards. It's not like we're a team loaded with shooters or anything.
Maybe. All the reporting stated he waited to sign the extension such that he would not be eligble to be traded in season. If his agent messed up counting days and he gets traded, that would be very funny.
It seems he’s so laser focused on getting his shot back that he’s missing everything else right now. Reactions to everything are way too slow. Be like Amen and find a way to positively impact the game
In Jabari’s rookie season he flat out said what he needed to do when he commented about wanting to get his body like Giannis or something to that effect. He flat out has not put in the work for that and has not added any noticeable amount of strength. Overall, I think if he thought of himself as a role player then maybe that would help him define himself. Right now he’s a shooter than can't shoot and a power forward with no power.
Agreed, he's basically just a really tall small forward, only problem is, Tari Eason is better... Would love to pluck Jerami Grant off of the Blazers...
Idk why but I thought this was hilarious. Dudes bad at everything we drafted him for. I still believe in him, if he ends up doing nothing all season then he can go with FVV in the offseason.
"Be like Amen"? That is not fair. Like most NBA players, Jabari doesn't have the instincts, truly freakish athleticism and intelligence that Amen has. He just needs to fix his broken jumper. That would solve the majority of his problems and make him a reliable 15/8 player with a long-term future on the Rockets..
I meant just find ways to positively impact the game while the shots aren’t falling. You see that from everyone else playing for us. Not him. Crash the boards, get to the dunker spot, move off ball. Amen does these things at another level but at the core, these are basic fundamentals basketball things any nba forward can do.
He can shoot like 5 airballs but that one three he hits near opposing bench he will bark like he is some superstar. Dude is super dumb and I really don’t like him. Remember when he barked at Sengun?
Definitely a terrible start for Smith. They could have at least also included his free throw percentage in there (86.7%) lol but that wouldn't fit the agenda I guess. Udoka is doing a decent job of limiting his minutes and giving more minutes to others when playing better, but I do hope he can find his confidence and turn it around. I still have some hope he turns it around, but we shall see. Definitely too early to just give up on him like some recommend.
He has been trash and will always be the same. He doesn’t have it! Time to move on. Darko Mlicic of the draft.
He was drafted for defense and 3 pt and stretch 5.. he's been a horrible shooter.. he's been decent at best on defense..below his ad from college, he can't be stretch 5 cause he's below league average by center standards.. he can rebound but not consistent.. they should trade him while he has value or bench him cause I don't honestly know how hes a starter still . He has or had potential but when he dropped from a projected first pick to 3rd like a day before the draft was alarming .it's time to move on... Rockets should have traded the pick after Paolo and chet was drafted .
