Alpi and Tari aren't getting traded, but for the right player, Amen will be traded before the other 2...
Well first of all Sheppard gets 15 mpg. As a baseline for a winning team thats sufficient given he hasnt been playing great so far and we are trying to win. Like imagine if FVV had an injury and Sheppard had to play 30 mpg tonight, you think we'd win this game? he had 2/2/2 so that would be 6/6/6 with 0/9 from 3. I dont think so. Cam needs to work out his kinks in GLeague. The season is 82 games long no need to dump guys somebody will get injured sooner or later and these 2 need to be ready by then.
Man, that better be for a helluva player. Maybe I'd be okay with Amen being the center of a Giannis trade. Mmmmaaayyyybbeee for Booker? I can't think of another reasonable target that would be worth Amen. If it comes to ranking our prospects, my tiers are Sengun, Amen, Eason [gap] Green, Sheppard [gap] Bari [gap] Whitmore
Jabari should be signed to a cheap deal long term to capitalize on a down year. He is the same guy who shot 35% from 3 last year on decent volume.
Skilled big men are rare gems in this era of basketball - I don't see Sengun getting traded unless it's an upgrade at our Center position. Tari and Amen are toss ups, but I think with the current construction of our team, you'll have to keep Tari for his defense and perimeter shooting. Amen has the higher ceiling making him a more valuable trade piece....Amen still needs to work on his perimeter shooting and decision-making when he's running point.
I wouldnt trade him for Giannis. Giannis is amazing but at age 30 Giannis is too old for rest of the core 7. You'd be a win now team trying to win as many rings in the next 5 yrs so that would mean Brooks, FVV and Jock are the new core alongside Giannis and you need to dump the young guys for win now vets to maximize the chance of winning while Giannis is still in his prime. Why do we need to impose a window to ourselves when our oldest guy is Tari Eason at age 23? Lets roll with young guys and compete for the next 12 yrs. Its not like Rockets suck now either they are 8/4 in the very stacked WC and thats with the team shooting like garbage. We literally have the most upside in the entire WC no need to mess with whats working. Bucks are a great example they just needed more depth and a better coach but went ahead and closed their window by messing up what was working. Even worse they literally gifted Celtics the one thing they needed to be a dynasty.
I feel like he believes the rockets have tons of potential. I can see him staying with the rockets for a long time.
Trade trade trade. I wouldnt trade Jabari I would extend him and take advantage of his slump to keep him at a cheap deal. Same thing with Cam he doesnt even see the court no team will break the bank for him. Tari and Amen are hot commodities we will need to pay to keep them so you get savings elsewhere. People were saying the same thing about Dyson Daniels look at him now. If instead of trading him for an "upgrade" Pelicans took advantage of his limited playing time and extended him to a cheap deal they'd be reaping the rewards right now. This is why Stone is much better than Morey Stone appreciates what he has and can exercise patience whereas Morey has an itchy trigger finger and keeps trading guys left and right like he is a day trader. Rockets had guys they needed to trade assets for later cuz Morey dumped them immediately like Robert Covington and Jeremy Lin. You realize we lost Capela because we traded for Robert Covington when Morey was the guy who signed him initially as an undrafted player? If we kept him instead of dumping him instantly the defense would have been insane with both Capela and Covington and maybe the 2018 rockets would have been the champions.
A major trade should wait until after we make the playoffs (hopefully this season) and see how the core performs under pressure. Adams' contract is expiring and might be on the move this deadline if he hasn't rounded back into form.
I likely wouldn't either. Not only because of Amen, but because of the draft capital it would take. I do think, however, adding Giannis likely makes us near contenders for the next 3 - 5 years. But, with our surplus of draft capital and young core, we're setup to be good for a very long time. In other words, would I do it? Probably not. Would I understand it? Yes. Would I hate it? Probably not.
If the GM was Morey I venture to say he’d have been dealing and wheeling as soon as last year. Definitely it did not seem Morey had the patience for young talent, he coveted veterans that had proven themselves as legit NBA talent. He sought Franchise talent and then he built around said individual with all the abilities and resources at his disposal. Stone on the other hand is more in mold of Luhnow, letting the youth flourish and then he will worry about making moves or trades. Luhnow style was extremely successful, Morey’s analytics approach hasn’t yielded the title results. I think in Basketball, the refs can interfere a lot more than in baseball, in terms of the game score. So Morey’s method isn’t obsolete or inferior. But I do not see stone giving up on a guy he knows is talented, just because he has growing pains.
Well I would hate it 3-5 yrs is too short a window and after that would be another 5 yrs of limping along as a an playoff appearance team similar to Sixers. Look at them Morey should have built around Maxey instead he got guys around Embiid now Embiid is damaged goods and Maxey is just wasting his time doing nothing. Giannis is amazing RN but he relies 100% on his athleticism and at 30 he should be washed after 5 yrs. By that time Green and company would be in their prime but we dont have enough pieces to contend cuz we traded a kings ransom for Giannis. I am of the belief winning a chip is really a numbers game the longer your window is the more chance you win. Injuries make everything unpredictable but if you have a long window you are in perfect spot to capitalize. I dont mind trading for an upgrade but he should only be in his early 20s not in his 30s.
Giannis for Brooks, Bari, Cam and picks is as far as I would go. We’d be a defensive monster with Giannis, Tari, and Amen on the court.
Robert Williams is loking real good for the Blazers since coming back from injury. Many teams will be trying to get him and I hope the Rockets are one of those teams.
I'm not blowing it up for Giannis, his decline will be steep and he's already declined massively on defense. My top target would be ant edwards. I think after next season it will be clear they are going nowhere and he's someone who could get impatient. A lineup in 2 years of reed, ant, amen, tari, alpi sounds pretty good. The one guy i'd obviously break up everything for is Jokic, if he decides he's tired of playing for a joke franchise.
They will find a shooting guard. Finding a top 5 player is much harder than finding a shooting guard.
